iPhone iOS5 problems using 1.4.4
#21
A comparison of iPhone iOS4 behaviour with iOS5 behaviour using the most recent version of the Comfort app.

I have access to iPhones with the comfort app (most recent version) running.
Two are on iOS5, rest (three at present accessed) on iOS4.

iOS5 phones both have the \"data error\" problem.
iOS4 phones do not.

One major difference between them is as follows.

In a previous post ident stated that when you \"completely close down the app (by double tapping the Home button and pressing and holding the app icon on the bottom until you see a minus sign) then all the info about the previous connection is lost\".

When the iOS4 phones completely close down the app, and then restart the app, the last connection is remembered and immediately the phone restores the \"connected\" status. No selection of the system involved is required.

When the iOS5 phones completely close down the app, and then restart the app, the connection is not remembered. When the system is immediately reselected in 3G, the \"data error\" happens.

You may have found the reason for the connection problem
The status \"connecting...\" leading to Data Error is due to not able to connect to the UCM/Ethernet. The likely reason is that a connection was already made and then cut off leading the UCM/Ethernet to think the connection is still there. This is why when the idle time-out expires, you are able to connect again

I have not experienced this problem  after upgrading to iOS5. This may be because we have been using a custom application on the EM500. This logs out the UCM when a connection has been lost for any reason. It also helps secure the system againts someone else connecting to the system after another connection has logged in
It allows a connection to connect only when the previous connection has logged out.

The firmware/application must be installed using the DS Exporer (NOT DS Mnager) Tibbo Device Server Toolkit which can be downloaded from https://www.cytech.biz/ds_manager.html
Run the DS Explorer, It should detect the UCM/Ethernet  by its IP address (similar to DS Manager)
Choose a menu called \"Upgrade Firmware by Network\" (NOT Upgrade Application by Network) and choose the attached file cytech_application-3_02.bin This upgrades the EM500 with the firmware/application
Note: Please disable your firewall (eg Zone alarm) before attempting this upgrade

The info about closing down the app was incorrect. When you restart afyter closing the app, it does remember the last connection

I am probably being slow but I don\'t see DS Explorer? I have manager 3 different monitors and VSP manager?

OK I downloaded explorer from tibo web site...

I choose upload then Load firmware through the network and it fails.

Interestingly if I click on the device ip i get a messaged that this is a \"fixed firmware\" Dervice Server. This device is not programmable Sad

Same here as schford as regards the Tibbo Device Server Toolkit. I have it but there is no DS explorer

Schford: Where on the Tibo website did you find the software?

Sorry, Device explorer is not part of the Device Server Toolkit, it is part of Tibbo IDE which you can download from http://tibbo.com/downloads/basic/software.html

For some reason it is not possible to upgrade Tibbo firmware using Device Manager and Device Exporer has to be used

The application firmware upgrade only works with the ETH02 using EM500 module which is relatively new

Mine is a year or so old - does this mean that my iphone client is not going to work now Sad unless I buy a new board - or do you think you will be able to do a software fix - it worked perfectly on ios 4...

With firewall switched off.
When I use the Device Explorer \"upload\" to load the bin file, I get the following error:
\"Cannot choose network interface\"

Any ideas?
