Observations after two days:
1) First, switching the app on for the first time - it does \"label\" the correct system on the opening page (in my case \"Home\"), but it does not connect to it. I must select the system by pressing the \"key\" symbol and selecting the system on the \"Comfort Systems\" page.
I do not recall this having to be done prior to upgrading to iOS5. My recollection is that once I opened the app for the first time it connected straight away while on LAN.
2) If I am on wifi (LAN) it connects fine once the system is selected (as at 1 above).
3) If, having been on WiFi I leave the app running in the background, and I change to 3G, sometimes it connects. Other times it gives a \"data error\", sometimes a \"Reconnecting: timeout\" dialogue appears. It will connect if I then wait a couple of minutes.
4) If the app is completely closed down and I switch it on for the first time in 3G, ODDLY the screen remains black for 1 to 5 seconds, depending. Then the main screen appears. Then I select the system on the \"Comfort Systems\" page, and return to the main page. There it reads \"connecting\" followed immediately by \"data error\". If I then try to enter password and press \"send\" the \"data error\" returns with sometimes a \"Reconnecting: timeout\" dialogue. If I then wait a couple of minutes it usually connects okay.

I have upgraded to IOS 5 (disable zone alarm and similar firewalls otherwise the backup operation fails)
I dont have any of the reported problems. The LAN and Internet connectios work fine and when I go out and coome back in the previous system is remembered and can login

Update:
I am hoping that I have restored things, but its \"fingers crossed\".
On iphone, under settings, icloud, documents and data, I found that documents and data for the Comfort App were being stored in icloud. I dont know enough to know if the app was getting the settings from the icloud or whether there was a local copy. Anyway, seeing as I was getting \"data error\" and \"timeouts\", I thought I would give it a go and switch off the data and documents icloud option.
Now I seem to have restored reasonable functionality. I still get the occassional \"data error\", but nearly all times I get to the keypad without problems on both LAN and internet.
I would be interested to know if this works for anyone else?
Also it would be interestng to hear from the developers whether any changes were made to the app in anticipation of iOS5. I see from the apple website for example that third parties would, amongst other things, have to incorporate support for iCloud\'s Documents & Data in their apps. Could any of this have resulted in data error/time outs as I experienced?

Walk through of what I am doing.
1 - Open Comfort (it wasn\'t closed just in background)
2 - disconnected message - try to connect get data error
3 - Fully close program
4 - Reopen now get message it has refound wifi connection do i want to logon back in
5 - say yes - hangs on connecting for ages
6 - do work around eg click on key then select a dummy alarm
7 - click on key and set my real home alarm
8 - now it says connected and i can login

Regretfully I spoke too soon. The problem with \"data error\" and connection timeouts returned yesterday.
However, my problem seems to relate primarily to connection via 3G, and usually not wifi.
1. If the app is started (i.e. its not running in the background), and I am on 3G, then once the system is selected it starts \"connecting\", and then \"data error\". Sometimes it shows \"connected\" for a split second before \"data error\".
2. If I try once or twice more to connect, I usually will get connected.
3. Once the app is running in the background, if I select it again it usually connects okay.
4. Connecting via wifi is mostly successful.
5. If already connected via wifi, and the app is left running in the background, and I switch to 3g, I can usually connect through 3G when I open the app again without \"data error\".

I realise these are wildcard analyses, but given the nature of the problem I am having (connecting ->data error) with sometimes split second \"connected\" status I wondered if the app was connecting dropping and then reconnecting, thus being being \"locked out\", on its first attempt to connect using 3G. So I tried the following experiment -
1. Using DS Manager I reduced the connection timeout for my ETH02 from 5 minutes to 1 minute.
2. I repeated the following experiment several times with consistent results. I closed the app completely each time.:
(a) Start the app. Wait > 1 minute. Select the system. \"connecting\" -> \"Connected\" each time without a problem.
(b) Start the app. wait < 1 minute. Start the app. \"Data error\" each time.
Interesting.
