KP04 Screen problem

I have a KP04, quite old. About a year ago the screen turned very dark its like the contrast is turned to maximum, you cannot read or make anything out. I suspect the LCD has gone faulty, Is the LCD replaceable?

The LCD is soldered in to the PCB with 19 pins so it is not easily replaceable unless you are a skilled solderer
