Here is an idea
Why not split comfigurator so that the end user can upload/download programs and thus \'play\' with the settings - this would apply to connected devices such as lighting.
The main part of comfigurator would be licensed and only available to recognised installers.

Where exactly is the benefit in this?

As a DIY installer myself I\'d be dead against this as I want to use all of the power of the tool.
If as an installer you want to protect against users fiddling with your installer created and supported configuration then IMHO you should cover that off in your written contract with the customer.
What you could do is introduce signon to configurator and for each user be able to set their user type as ENDUSER or ADMIN. Then based on their user type restrict access to various features. Maybe have BASIC and ADVANCED views. There are various ways obviously here.
As Wexfordman says though depends what you are wanting to acheive.

Wizcomfort was supposed to allow limited user programming
what programmming would an end user need which is not allowed in Wizcomfort?
