Hi

I am a newbie and am rewiring my home to use Comfort and X10. I have a few questions:

I want to control lights at the front and side of my house with Comfort. i.e. When motion is detected and it is dark outside, I want the lights to come on regardless of what mode Comfort is in. Is this possible? (I realise I can get Comfort to switch the X10 module of the lights, the question is more can Comfort switch lights on detection, regardless of mode - i.e. When the house is occupied? I have a similar situation internally where I would like to use the security motion detectors to turn on lights at certain times at night.

Also is there a recommended type of PIR for external use?I am presuming I need alarm-type detectors which function like internal detectors, but am struggling to find external ones in the UK which are not the 240-type to switch 220v load, but suspect I am looking for the wrong thing.

Final question, for IR control of a Hifi: what type of cable do I need to run? I need it to run about 12m from my hifi area to the Comfort panel location.

Of course it is possible for Comfort to switch on the lights regardless of the security mode. Use the Zone Response which is activated when the PIR detects motion.
In the Zone Response, you can unconditionally switch on the lights or use conditions to decide whether to switch the lights

There are many outdoor PIRs suitable for alarm systems which can be connected to Comfort. Look at  Risco Group at http://www.riscogroup.com/Products.aspx?subcatid=108&id=12

CAT5 cable should be used for IR Transmitters
Also use separate CAT5 cables for differet IR transmiiters to avoid the possibility that IR signals may be induced in other wires in the cable
