ADSL Protection/Passthrough Board

The APB01 ADSL Protection/Passthrough Board allows ADSL broadband signals to pass through Comfort without being affected, so that the ADSL modem can be plugged to Comfort TEL OUT, ie in any telephone socket in the premises

Normally the ADSL modem must be connected on TEL IN before the telephone line goes into Comfort, otherwise the ADSL signal will be affected by  the voice path in Comfort. Hence the ADSL modem could not be plugged into a telephone socket connected to TEL OUT without having the broadband speed affected.

The new APB01 plugs into the TEL IN and TEL OUT connectors and includes TEL IN and TEL out sockets to connect the incoming telephone line and the telephone wires to the home telephones. The ADSL modem is connected to the telephone in connection of the APB01 while the house telephones are connected to TEL OUT on the APB01

The APB01 also provides additional protection from surges on the telephone line from lighting and other disturbances. This will also help to protect the ADSL modewm and other telephone equipment connected to TEL Out

Note that the APB01 can be reversed in polarity on  the TEL IN and Out connections as the two connections are symmetrical

The APB01 ADSL Pasthrough/Protection Board  fulfills two functions

1. It allows ADSL signals to bypass Comfort, ie the broadband frequencies go to TEL OUT so that an ADSL m modem can be plugged into any telephone socket in the premises. Without this device, the ADSL modem must be installed before Comfort TEL IN
2. It provides protection against lignting-induced voltage surges, thus helping to protect Comfort as well as your ADSL modem and telephones from damage. Hence this performs the same function as the TPB01 Telephone protection Board)
   

The board is in the form of a PCB with fingers that plug into TEL IN and TEL OUT terminal blocks. Another set of TEL IN and TEL OUT terminal blocks on the board allow the Telephone in and telephone out wires to be connected. The picture attached shows the APB01

With the APB01 installed do I still need micro filters on each of the telephones and the ADSL modem connected to the TELOUT socket?

The manual shows them connected without but I suspect they are required. Maybe not on the ADSL modem but on the phones.

You should need the microfilter for the phone only, not the ADSL modem
