UCM 4G upgrade due to digital phone line upgrade
#1
Hi,

I've been the very happy user of a comfort system since 2001 - it's been so problem free that I've not had to change/upgrade/add anything to the system since that date.

With the upcoming change in the UK, to no longer support copper, my phone line will be upgrading to digital, so I think now is the time to add a UCM-4G to my comfort system - I believe this will allow me to control comfort - activate/de-activate comfort, have DTMF control over comfort, and be called whenever there is an alarm, over the 4G network.

My question is, will my hardware be compatible, and what firmware needs updating ?

My comfort system is:
8001/E Comfort CPU/8-zone/8-output with "Outside 4.115" printed on the "main chip" on the circuit board
UCM-CWI (with the RS232 cable connected (to a Raspberry Pii)) with "UCM 5.11" printed on the "main chip" on the UCM board

Many many thanks for any help - I've had a bit of a trawl through the forum, but I fear my system may be much older than many.

Thanks
Russ

Your system should be about 20 years old, about 3 generations ago! Outside 4.115 firmware is not flashable so it is not upgradable.
The UCM is also not flashable. The parts you need to buy to update your system are;
  1. CM9001-ULTA Comfort Controller PCB (Arm-based)
  2. TT02-0024 DC power supply
  3. AP02 accessories, connectors for the power supply
  4. UCMA/ETH03 or USB interface to PC comfigurator
  5. UCMA/GSM5 gsm module for LTE networks
  6. Keypad or keypads. KP04A, KP05A, or kP06A. I believe your keyoad may be the non-LCD type?
It is almost a completely new system except for the metal box EN03
there is also a metal plate that mounts on the oldEN03 that has mounting holes for the new CM9001 PCB
I hope you continue to be a Comfort customer!

Thanks for the prompt response, and detailed list.

It's a shame it's not a more simple upgrade - but then there aren't many electronics in my house that are still in use after 24 years !

Incase anyone else is reading this thread, I've solved the problem with a 4G Analogue Terminal Adapter - a CL2000 from Geemarc.

Basically plug the telephone plug from Comfort into the CL2000, and put a 4G sim card in, and away you go - Comfort phone control over 4G !

SeeĀ https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/20...hones.html
andĀ https://geemarc.com/uk/product/cl2000/

My 24 year old Comfort system lives to fight another day !
