UCM/Ethernet Firmware Upgrade
#1
Hi,

I have managed to upgrade my comfort ult and my UCM/GSM using UCM/Ethernet, using the cable but how do I upgrade my UCM/Ethernet firmware? as it cant upgrade its self.

Do I need to swap the daughter boards of my GSM and ethernet to make this happen?

Thanks,
Chris.

If your UCM/Ethernet firmware is version 6, then it can upgrade itself, see http://www.comfortforums.com/forum92/3400.html

If it is version 5, then it needs another UCM to upgrade it to version 6

You can ask a friend who has a UCM to help to upgrade it
Or other Comfort users who live near you, see http://www.comfortforums.com/forum4/2232.html

You cannot upgrade by swapping the daughterboards of ETH and GSM or other modules
GSM firmware and UCM firmware are different. The UCM/GSM firmware are not able to upgrade other UCMs

UCM/ETH, UCM/USB, and UCM/232 have the same firmware on the base UCM

I have exactly the same dilemma.
Is it possible to upgrade the UCM/eth via the serial port it has? If so can someone point to a link on how to do It?

If your UCM/ETH is version 6 or above you can upgrade using Comfigurator 3.6.8, see instructions in http://www.comfortforums.com/forum92/3400.html

IF your UCM firmware is version 5, then you need to use another UCM minimum version 5 with a programming cable to  upgrade your ucm see http://www.comfortforums.com/forum4/1782.html
Once it is upgraded to the latest version (v7) the UCM can be upgraded by Comfigurator without needing another UCM and it can also be used to upgrade other UCMs and modules so it is worthwhile doing so. If you do not have another UCM you may be able to ask someone who lives nearby for help, or your distributor who sold the Comfort system to you
