I picked a problem with my Vocabulary (voice) on my keypad. The keypad is not picking up the text file (according to the error received on the keypad). Then I tried to do a Vocab Upgrade. After the indicator goes to 0%, it almost immediately displays an error Vocab Errors on the screen (using Comfigurator V3.13.6.0). Not sure what else I can do to fix this scenario? The rest of the Comfort system seems to work fine. Any suggestions? |

Ok, I have done a reset of the system. I also powered the system off, removed the battery. I also removed the keypad in one of the attempts. However no difference. I keep on getting the Vocab errors message on the screen. Not sure if one was able to do that in the past, but I cannot change the wordlist to English Residential as well. Wordlist shows as blank. I suspect the main board is possibly damaged. Is there a way that I can confirmed that? |

I suspect the DSP or Flash IC is damaged if the Vocab cannpt be upgraded. Can you see a serial numbetr starting with C or P followed by 6 digits on the Comfort PCB? |

The serial number is P031939. |

The serial number is not in the system, perhaps it is tooo old. Is that a Comfort 1 PCB (single board) or Comfort 2 (2 boards) and what is the firmware?Take a hoto of the board if you are not sure |

It is a Comfort 2 board (2 boards) and the current version of firmware is 7.175.According to Comfigurator application the latest firmware version. |

This should be quite old. The fault should be on the DSP side (ie right side of the 2 PCBs which contain the power supply). You can buy that DSP board alaine and plug it in to replace the od one. The new boards is CM9001 with a different DC power supply so you need to get that as well and replace the old transformer![]() |

Can you just explain the the acronym DSP? I am not sure what that is referring to. If I understand you correctly it is the the second board of the Comfort PC Board which sits on the right hand side of the Comfort PC Board. Is that correct? |

DSP stands for Digital Signal Processor. It is the IC that goves the speech and recording functions for Comfort. It is on the right half of the Comfort PCB, along with the power supply and Keypad connectors |

One question. How did you upgrade the vocabulary, using UCM/USB or UCM/ETH03? what is the UCM firmware version? |

It is a UCM Ethernet interface. Not sure if it is ETH03 or an older version. I am attaching a photo. The firmware version of the UCM is 7.141 currently. Attachment: UCM-ETH0.jpg (Downloaded 19 times) |

That should explain it. ETH02 does not support Vocabulary Upgrade. I suggest that you buy the ETH03 and plug in in place of ETH02. However I am not sure if the DSP could be damaged |

Ok, Thank you. I'll start the process with replacing the ETH02 module with ETH03 and then possibly the DSP board. Will let you know. I appreciate the support and comments. |
