Hi,
On Saturday morning I decided it was about time to replace my Comfort I days LEM03. So I connected a new SEM and LEM, used the drag and drop to move the inputs around (works like a charm, love it) and all was well. I did a security check and did a quick walk around, and all the zones were announced as expected.
After the SEM/LEM install went smoothly, I decided maybe I might as well connect my Ethernet UCM. So laid the network cable to the panel and connected the UCM, configured the IP stuff and the UCM was up and running. But then I noticed that the System and User Vocabulary Version showed as 0.
I tried upgrading the Vocabulary using the USB as well as Ethernet UCM, but got the following error "Vocabulary Upgrade failed with error code: 6. Please try Vocabulary Upgrade again" with 0% done. I tried a few times, and did not interrupt the upgrade process.
I then removed the keypads and the SEM, infact all other UCMs, switched the Panel off for a bit and tried again and got this error "Vocab upgrade encounted errors. The operation was cancelled."
From Saturday, the panel has been without voice, the GSM does not work, Control Menu is gone. I have sent the I/O Monitor info via email to support as well as the project.
Please advice what I need to do.

The error 06 message means that there Voice Flash memory could not be erased
This is normally due to a fault on the DSP IC on Comfort which may have been caused by an event like a lightning strike
Can you send the serial number on Comfort PCB (look for a bar code label with a serial number starting with C......) and please send it to support@cytech.biz

I have sent the serial number to support. We did not have any lightning on Saturday. Let me know what I need to do.

As luck would have it, I think I might have the same issue again.
We had serious storm on Thursday night, which took out our power supply till the next day (Friday) in the afternoon. Everything including announcements was working while we were running on battery and when the power returned.
On Sunday afternoon, the keypad was still showing battery warning, so I decided to reset the panel. After the reset the panel stopped announcing. A close look at the System Info in Configurator, showed System Vocab Version of 0 (the same for LCD Text version).
What could cause this?Last edited on Monday Dec 2nd, 2013 02:59 pm by Howser

I assume the DSP board was replaced by the distributor?
Vocab 0 means the voice is lost
A heavy lightning surge may corrupt the flash memory which holds the voice
Try resetting again
If the voice does not return do a Vocab upgrade again but before that please upgrade comfort and UCM firmware to the latest version which better handles the vocab upgrade
If the same error occurs during the vocab upgrade then the flash may be damaged
If you area is subject to frequent lightning then you should install an external lightning protection for telephone and Power

Yes, the DSP board was replaced by the distributor, thanks again for that.
I reset a few times and I did load the vocab successfully (unlike the last time).
I do not have a telephone (just the GSM) and have protection on the AC side, just curious as to why it happened.

It is problem withthe DSP handling of the Flash memory which gets corrupted for some reason which even the manufacturer cannot answer. The only solution is to do a vocab upgrade

Hi guys, I am new here. We installed my system yesterday, even though I bought all the equipment when I was in Singapore back in 2012. Everything went great right to the end, but then we lost the voice.
After that we had the same issues Howser describes above.
"Vocabulary Upgrade failed with error code: 6. Please try Vocabulary Upgrade again"
When you say "vocab upgrade", is that a hardware, or software upgrade?
