It's not actually X10, but I wasn't sure where else to post. PLCBUS looks to have the features as X10 with the advantage that it is 2-way as standard (i.e., you can query all modules), faster, & more reliable. There is also an interface with the same RJ-11 connection as the XM10E (http://www.plcbus.com.cn/4809uk.htm), which claims to work with Comfort. The question is; has anybody used this, and if so what is your opinion?
This is the correct forum for X10 and related devices
We have tested the 4809UK interface. It replaces the XM10E for connection to the power line, and it does work, except that if you try to send X10 commands immediately one after the other, it causes the interface to hang for some reason
You need to put in a delay of about 3 seconds between successive commands
Thanks for the response. I am looking for a low cost and reliable method of switching lights & appliances. PLCBUS would seem to fit the bill, but this will depend on whether Comfort & the interface can make use of the more advanced features. When sending a command, does Comfort or the interface request and wait for an ACK from the PLCBUS module? If not, sending a status request after the command to check that it had worked would be OK if it can be done quickly, but the need to wait 3 seconds between commands makes this impractical. Any ideas would be most welcome.
