Power versus range was my initial thought - hence my Q about the Comfort 2 output voltage (versus Comfort 1) or the OP1 board is faulty.

I'm sure the IRM01 was originally sold with an 8m range.

Couldn't bring myself to short it out completely. Dropped the value to 40ohm and it works OK now.

100ohm seems a low value for an LED. What is the Vf & I for this LED? Perhaps I can leave it at 40ohm?
