IRD01 IR Dome
#1
The IR Dome is a combination IR transmitter/blaster and transmitter which can be mounted on the celing to transmit and receive IR signals
The IRD01 transmits IR signals through 8 infrared LEDs around the circumference, as well as receives Comfort IR signals send from a handheld remote control like the RC01 and Philips Pronto. The IRD01 is connected to the RIO, replacing IRR01 IR receivers and 8 IR0W1 IR transmitters.

The instruction manual can be downloaded from http://www.cytech-technology.com/temp/manuals/rioman.pdf

Could this be used to replace a simple Xantech system ?

And do the domes talk back to the Comfort panel via RS485 ?

And is it possible to just have a simple receiver in the rooms, rather than the full dome with transmitters - possibly by hacking the dome and reducing it\'s size ?

The dome is not an IR distribution system like Xantech
The IR receivers will only accept Comfort IR codes which will activate responses, it does not carry IR signals to another transmitter
The IRD01 is connected to an RIO which is connected to Comfort by RS485
Instead of the IRD01 you can use one of the IR receivers IRR01 connected to RIO input

There is the IRR01 receiver which is small enough to hide away. Often this can go inside a PIR.
