SEP01 - Some simple questions
#1
Hi All,
I have an existing Comfort Alarm with all inputs in use and the case is full (2 UCMs etc). I\'m adding a garage and have a few simple questions about the SEP01-M2 expansion.
  1. Are only 2 wires required between the main alarm and the SEP01? If so, is pair from a shielded Cat6 OK?
  2. Can I connect 2 more keypads directly to the SEP01? (I have 4 on the main alarm)
  3. Does the SEP01-M2 pack with smaller enclosure include a battery?
  4. Will the SEP01 set off the alarm bell connected to the main alarm or does it need its own alarm bell?
  5. Is KP04 still a current product? (I use KP06 in the house but KP04 looks like a better match to surface mounting in a garage)

Add 1 ore wire for the common Ground. If yo want to connect keypads then add Mic and Voice

Yes if the Mic and Voice signals are connected to the SEP01
Quote:Does the SEP01-M2 pack with smaller enclosure include a battery?
It has space for a battery but does not include the batteru
Quote:Will the SEP01 set off the alarm bell connected to the main alarm or does it need its own alarm bell?
It will set of the siren connected to the main alarm as well as the siren connected to the SEP01

TO CLARIFY Is the existing Comfort a 1 or 2 ?  When you say wire .... you surely refer to a single line of copper  A cable may contain several wires .......

So you will need:  KA - 1 wire  KB - 1 wire  0v -1 wire  voice - 1 wire  mic - 1 wire(which could all be incorporated into a single CAT6 cable (although if I were to advise anything carrying a voice or mic signal should be screened so ideally CAT6 screened !

Connecting keypads to the SEP01  I believe that I am still correct in saying that there are NO terminations for voice/mic on the (new) SEP pcb. (although there are on the (new) main CPU).

The alarm bell connections on the old SEP units never worked ! We have not tried one recently! (One for Cytech to double check !).

KP04 A - go careful here as the A is a designation that allows partitions BUT you will need to have all keypads at A and the latest firmware if you want to use partitions and as you are connecting to a garage I would presume that you would want this a separate entity (potentially!)

Sorry, what I meant is that the  SEP has a terminal block fo MIC and Voice, but which is not connected to the actual MOC and Voice signals. But they can be used as a termination /connection point for Mic and Voice signals from the Comfort Controller, and then to the keypads

If you have SEM firmware 7.xxx the Bell output on the slave does work, the same as on Comfort Bell Outputs
