Ideas for Comfigurator V3??
#1
Some ideas for future versions of comfigurator feel free to chip in...

I do appreciate that some of the requests, although being borne from the use of Comfigurator, may well have firmware implications for comfort but lets start the list.
  • Connection method/details stored per CCL, serial, ip, ip address etc.
  • When coding responses, ActionBuilder should have a button to list all Reponses as sometimes it can be difficult to find the command you want.
  • Action builder should have the rem(ark) option included.
  • Be able to move responses up or down the code window on a line by line basis.
  • Redesign the responses section such that the list only contains barebone code (responses) to have a functional security system. From there any changes made should be highlighted in a different colour. This will make things clearer. Then perhaps we can have a drag and drop function such that stock code examples, custom codes etc. can be dropped in as required. Could make for easier code sharing via forums etc. And make programming multiple systems with similar code more efficient.
  • Response Window: Would like to be able to choose the default sort option (e.g. sort by name, sort by response no' etc)
  • Timers: Have two types, what we have now together with Timers that have on and off times with on & off responses. I know we can code this already but it would just be a more logical. Especially from the clients perspective when using the keypad.
  • Introduce repetitive events (timers), once a minute, once every 10 sec's etc. I know we have the hourly event and can code other durations but it would be easier to have this option already there
  • Integrate real-time monitoring and control for debugging (similar to wizcomfort facilities), monitor outputs, monitor & simulate inputs, send X10 commands and IR codes etc. Perhaps these should appear in a separate monitor window
  • Do function... Expand the commands options such that it can, do responses, do outputs, do Dynalite, do x10 etc. all directly. Again this would make coding more obvoius and easy to understand.
  • Be able to download, sounds, mp3s etc. for reminders etc. Ideally be able to get Comfort to play these directly as alarm types (a selection of nice doorbells)
  • If the above cannot be done (which I suspect would be the case as there is likely to be a lot of work there) have an emulation/construction tool for the \"sound types\" so it is easy to make changes and test before downloading.
Thats my starter list, I'm sure there will be more to come.

The YANZA \"My Home\" software can be connected to Comfort and monitor bus information in real time for diagnostic purposes.

See http://yanza.com for details of all our products.

For me,

I just need full support for 15 Scs/Rio\'s asap.

Sorting alphabetically on the response list would also be good.

Writing to the event log would be handy on several levels, fault finding, logging events etc. Another request for the future I guess.

In comfigurator it might appear as Output Action/Write to event log/text value or flags, counters, input state output state etc.

I wonder if it\'s possible to design a program which fully simulates a comfort panel, so you can test programs before uploading to comfort ...  In that case, you know what SHOULD be happening ...

Can it be done, and if yes, will it ever be done by someone ?

Kind regards,

Thanks for the suggestion.,

That would be a difficult task and it is quite unlikely that we could do it as it would involve two parallel tracks for development of firmware/software

The best way to simulate would be to use an actual comfort on the bench, with Zone Test switches on the inputs and Test Lamps on the output

For the Network IP Address setting, I think it is better to allow host name instead of just IP address.

Someone said to integrate real-time monitoring like wizcomfort ... I was thinking, is there a way to see what comfort has in its queue ?

If you run one response after xxxx minutes, you know what you may expect, but if there are many responses like that, it might be nice to see what things are waiting to be runned ...

Just my 2 cents ...

Thanks for your suggestion
This would be more difficult to implement than the degree to which it would be useful to you

You can check what timers are running in Comfort using the Do Action command (Get Timer, Timer number). This tells you if the selected timers are running and thus which responses will run at the end

Ok, if it can\'t be done, it is so ...

But I see in the current wizcomfort, that you can view output & input status, so if you would implement a button wich generates a do action get timer for ALL the possible timers, you are half to the solution i guess

But is was just something that crossed my mind ...

Kind regards,
