Does a Comfort I (2003) RIO work with Comfort II?
Can the firmware be upgraded?

RIOs work with Comfort II as well as I. In fact there is no such thing as a Comfort I or II RIO
However the firmware for yoru RIO in 2003 is likely to be an older version, although that may not be a problem. see http://www.comfortforums.com/forum82/1092.html for firmware history
You cannot upgrade the RIO firmware yourself, but Cytech will do it at no charge except for transport charges (to the factory in Singapore)
