UCM/232 replaces UCM05

The UCM05 which is the UCM with Rs232 interface will be replaced by the UCM/232 as soon as the stocks of UCM05 run out.
The UCM/232 has a Rs232 plug in module (RS232/PB) plugged in on top of the base UCM06 module, instead of having the Rs232 DB9 connector on the base board.
This means that UCM/USB, UCM/Ethernet and UCM/232 will all share the same  UCM06 baseboard, the difference being the plug in module, ie USB01, ETH01 or Rs232/PB.
The function of UCM/232 are exacty the same as UCM05 and is sold at the same price.
The J2 shunt should be set to \"485\" position instead of the \"232\" position when the RS232/PB plug-in board is present.

This is the Rs232/PB plug in board which canbe bought separately. It plugs on top of a UCM06 to provide the RS232 interface on the DB0 connector

You mention the UCM06 module,  is this a typo or are you bringing out a new UCM version too?

Hopefully the PP2 jumper is moved to the edge of the board so is unobstructed by the daughtercards then (past and present versions).  It\'s a real pain having to remove all of these first so the jumper can be bridged for flashing.

With the new UCM06 due out soon, will this unit be able to upgrade firmware by itself or would you need another UCM06 like the existing UCM05 upgrade procedure?

The next question is a follow up, can you use a UCM06 to upgrade a UCM05 and vice versa?

What we call the UCM06 is actually the UCM05 without the built in Rs232 interface. Hence you can add the Rs232/PB, USB01, and ETH01 on top of it.

We wil also have a isolated Rs485 plug in board as well

UCM06 will not be sold as a separate product as there would be no interface without one of the plug in boards, but it could be a spare part for replacement

In future if you order UCM/Ethernet and UCM/USB, it will not come with the Rs232 interface on the base board

You will still need another UCM to upgrade the firmware of a UCM

To answer Julians question, the plug in boards will be such that the PP2 jumper is acccessible without unplugging the daughterboard

Thanks Chiu,

It looks from your pictures that the new daughterboards are quite small and dont obstruct.

In my experiences so far it\'s been the Ethenet module (which is larger because of the Tibbo module on it) has been the one to cause the obstructions.
