Comfort and the european regulations
#1
Hi eveyone,

great product - I had alot of fun playing with them at the CEDIA expo.

Is there any news on the comfort products becoming EN50131 accredited?  We\'re SSAIB registered but we would really like to install the comfort products as it provides a great mix of homeautomation and security services

Cheers

Implementation of these new European regulations will mean a big change in the way the system is used and to the convenience of users.
For example;
The keypad is not allowed to show any zone or alarms information unless the user has signed in. It can only show that \"Alerts\" are present in the system and that is only when it is not armed. When it is armed it cannot show anything about the state of the system. When there is a power failure, the AC LED cannot show that there is a power failure until the user signs in.
The keypad is not allowed to show if the system is armed or disarmed untill the user has signed in. When the system is armed or disarmed the keypad can show the change in mode for 30 seconds

Yes - I am aware how the european regulations affect the functioning of comfort.  Are all the modifcations required in the software?

I would be willing to donate time and resources to get this implimented faster, would it be possible to obtain a cytech panel and the development software to make the necessary changes?

Thanks

Thanks for the offer, but Comfort functionality is implemented in firmware, not software, so it has to be done at Cytech

Hi Chiu,

can you let us know if you are working towards offering comfort to be security graded to european standards and if so when shall we expect it?

thanks

This is an update on progress on implementing the EN50131 regulations in Comfort.
We though that it would be necessary to change the hardware to support some of the requirements, but we may have found a way to implement in firmware only. This means that you can would be able to buy a firmware plug in micro-pcb to upgrade the functionality when it becomes available.

What remains to be done is to create a new File System which supports 500 events in the event log which is one of the other requirements and of course a lot of testing

Any update on when this will be ready at all? I have customers lined up for this but I\'m reluctant to sell until I can given them the assurance that it will comply with all necessary regulations

We realise the urgency of this. We are testing the firmware to comply with this at this very moment. As it is a complex set of requirements we have to be very thorough and make sure we have everything covered
