What size SIM card fits in the UCM; Standard, Micro, Nano?

- tech07 - 12-20-2015

Standard
SIM card must not be 3G or 4g data only
It should be able to send sms

Cool.  Maybe you can add this to the manual too as I couldn\'t see it in the version I have.

we will add it
This was written in the days when there was only one size of SIM card, before Apple made it so complicated

A note about SIM cards has also been added in http://www.comfortforums.com/forum48/3647.html

Regarding SIM sizes, the \"Mini-sim\" (25 x 15mm) as shown below is used for UCM/GSM. Sometimes this is referred to as a \"standard-size\" SIM. Not the \"Full Size\" SIM shown below

Apart from needing to accommodate a standard SIM slot im curious BTW why the main GSM module is so big given what is crammed into a phone theae days. Would a GSM 5 be able to be made at a fraction of the size and cost i wonder?

Thats an interesting question, Julian
Does anyone else know  the answer?

My answer is that reducing the size does not necessarily reduce the cost of a device, unless there is very large volume  as in the case with phones. Modern phones must be thin and light, since they have to fit in a shirt pocket, but a UCM/GSM does not need to be small and thin so there is little to be gained from reducing the size. A micro or nano sim holder could be used in place of the standard size SIM holder, but that consideration is based on the ease of handling a standard size SIM vs micro or nano sims and inserting it into the holder.
