Hi

I have a UCM05 which I use for programming the system and also for running some home brew apps. What are the implications of hanging an additional rs232 to rs485  converter across comfort\'s own rs485 bus and using that to send and receive data strings from a PC.?

That is not recommended. Comfort RS485 bus  operates by polling and each device has an ID which is recognised by Comfort. Putting other devices on the bus may compromise the communications on the system or hang the bus
The UCM05 or UCM/Ethernet is the correct way to interface to other applications
