Hi folks,
I'm in a situation that a customer wants to use his phone (android 2.3.3) to control Comfort installation in his house. I am controlling this installation successfully with my android 4.x phone. Since I know that there was older app that has the android minimum version 2.2, what can I do except tell the customer to buy a newer phone? Can I push older installation in some way to his 2.3.3 andoid? I have customers that had older androids and used the older app for quite a time, successfully.
When I try to find Comfort mobile app directly from his 2.3.3 phone, I don't get v2 app since minimum for v2 comfort app is android 4.0.x. So how do I get the older app?
I found a direct link to older app, can I use it somehow or it won't work?
Old app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.calistra.cytechaphone
Thanks in advance,
Ivan Stefanic

Ok, so I managed to install the app on samsung android 2.3.6 through google play (in browser), since it didn't work from the phone. Not the first time that I install an app remotely. There was no error report on the phone, just "Comfort android" installed and I see the old icon. I can attach to the house with manually putting internet address and port, and connect to a house. The problem with which I'm fighting now is with importing .jcrlccip file. Tried with Android native app, with gmail app, from some kind of File explorer.. no luck. Sure I was expecting the phone to ask me "Open with" when I pressed the attach in mail client, as I did many times until now. But it wasn't the case this time.. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Ivan

Since there are users who need to use the 1st generation app, we are republishing it on the Play store. Please install again incase the version that you downloaded is not the correct one

Strange, but on the end I succeeded. I had a 2.3.6 android Samsung for trying in my office, and did not manage to get the cytech app working, more precisely did not manage to import MyProjectfile.jcrlccip. I went to my client and in his house I did it the right way with importing the .jcrlccip.. 1nd generation app, 1.92 for phone.. It worked with samsung 2.3.3 and the native email client from phone. So far so good.. Tried on another older phone that he had, HTC android 2.2, app installed normally, but did not get "Open with comfort for android" when I tried to open the attach from native phone email client app (NOT the gmail client, as it was said it won't work).
So I gave up with HTC.
Where is the catch that sometimes I get "Open with comfort" and sometimes not? As I can say, 1 out of 3 phones worked for me, that's a low 33 percent...

I do not recall having this problem with the old android app
Could it be due to using webmail instead of an email client?

After installing app, I always try first with non-webmail aka native mail application embedded in phone. If I don't succeed, I try with webmail, (being a last resort), and it never works.
Is there an reliable way to see if .jcrlccip is associated with Comfort for android? Tried Default app manager, then Astro file manager, with no success. Even app "Open with" to try to get these associations the right way, no luck

it may be the email client on the phone is modifying the file in some way so it is not recognisable
Try with another email (nonwebmail) client eg the gmail client
also try putting the jrlccip file directly in the phone by transfering from the PC and using the Import button
Cant these samsung phones be upgraded to Ice Cream sandwich (4.0)?

How exactly is decided who will open a file that is attached to mail, is the decision made just on extension of the file or some android system app goes digging into the file and then deciding about which app will open the file?
As I saw the jrlccip file is json file, and I even managed on other systems to change it with an editor (just the names of the controls). But anyway I managed to "import" the same file in this samsung 2.3.6, and ONLY on this phone everything worked. On sams 2.3.3 and HTC 2.2 I didn't have the possibility to "import" since it always said when I clicked the attach "No app to open this type of file" or something similar
I TRIED as a second option the gmail client, no luck, but as said on the forums, I have to try with phone's mail client, and i first did that, no luck
I can not use "Import" button, it doesn't exist in old application, and I have to use 1st gen.
I can not play with customers phone by trying to upgrade it, the upgrade procedure is not such as 2+2=4 (but I even tried the normal "upgrade system" from menu). It said "no available updates".
So for now my client got your app working on sams 2.3.6, I wanted just for security to install even on HTC 2.2, but I couldn't install the jrlccip. Installing just the app from play store was ok, jrlccip ->not.
Thanks in advance
