It would be really useful if you offered DTMF voicemail integration so that the Comfort system could be integrated with PBXs such as the KXTES824 from Panasonic. I could see this including:

  • Voicemail accessed directly from PBX
  • Dedicated extension on the PBX for communicating with Comfort to control functions alongside the current TEL IN and OUT connections.

Thanks for that suggestion. Integration depends on having access to protocols from other manufacturers. PABX systems generally are closed systems so it would be difficult to achieve the sort of integration that you describe
However it is possible to access Comfort voicemail from any PABX by selecting the line where Comfort is connected

Have a look at this manual:

http://www.its-tel.com/upload/VME_Ver_3.2.pdf

Just to show how I can be done - there are a standard set of commands and status signals that can be mapped. These guys have clearly coded the common PABXs.

It would be great if Comfort could do this as I have already invested in a KX-TES824 and door phones and wouldn't need these features from Confort and yet do want the alarm pieces.

Thanks

Mark

The manual shows how you can program the PABX to set it up according to what you need. It seems to be for ITS telecom only and does not appky to your Panasonic phone syste, as these systems tend to be proprietary
Comfort should be connected before the PABX, and will work as an alarm system without any special programming of the PABX.
I am not sure what features you would like to have which are not already available with Comfort as it is, connected to anby PABX which are not already available.

The main feature was the voicemail system so that Comfort can provide this to the PABX rather than having to use the Panasonic add-on built in voice message card.

I already have the PABX and therefore wouldn't want the door entry and telephony features of the Comfort. However, integrating the voicemail would be attractive.

Regards

Mark

The PABX voicemail cannot be interfaced to other voicemail systems like Comfort. The protocol document shows how to use DTMF tones to access its own features

However it is possible to access Comfort voicemail through any PABX by selecting the incoming line, press * and your code and # key. This access the user menu where you can listen to any new  or saved messages.
