Next thing is that people will get their fingers chopped off to access secure premises.
This has already happened in Germany. If they want to get in, they will get it !

Another way to look at these biometric security devices is not for protecting really expensive valuables, but as convenience, you dont have to carry keys or remember security codes.
However there are drawbacks like the time taken to recognise the fingerprint especially if there is a large database to compare against
