We were called in to fix several problems on a site where the previous installer did not manage to complete installation. One of the issues was that the audio system sounded C**P and distorted and was awkward to control As installers we can all have our off days but what we found made us chuckle... The system was based on active ceiling speakers but because the installer managed to find beams above there was not enough room to mount the active speakers. Careful positioning would have solved this. Anyway the design was changed to use separate speakers and amplifiers. Instead of using good quality 8ohm speakers cheap 100V PA speakers were used causing the sound quality issues. In the attached picture you can see another wire coming out from under the speaker terminals. This is the IR remote control eye stuffed in behind the cone . No wonder the system was hard to operate.
