Hi there,

My X10 control from my Comfort 1 Ultra has recently failed on me, so I've been trying to figure out the problem.

If I remove any multi plugs with Surge protectors within the viciinty of the Comfort, then it is able to receive IR codes. I have tested this by making it tell me a vocal response every time I fire 'X10B3on' from my remote control.

However, it does not seem to emit any X10 commands. I have used an X10 controller within the same socket sets next to my Comfort and this works fine.  So this led me to the conclusion that the X10 plug aka CM12U (this peice of kit) was not working.

If I open the Comfort panel and reconnect the RJ11 cable to another CM12U plug, then this works fine.

However this doesn't make sense. I expected the CM12U's function to both receive and emit X10 commands. Have I got this wrong ?

From my findings so far, it appears that the CM12U plug is used only for emitting X10 commands and some board internal to Comfort is responsible for receiving the X10 commands.

Could anyone confirm this is the case ?

Is there anyway I can check if the CM12U inside the Comfort cabinet is really faulty ? The light is on on the device, but because it's been hardwired in, I don't beleive there is a fuse.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

No Mr Knight!

the CM12U unit is responsible for both receiving and transmitting X10 comfort Gen 1 will only receive codes for a specific house code have you set this in comfigurator?

Otherwise it sounds like your CM12U is at fault.

If I am not mistaken CM12 is the X10 interface used to connect to the PC via Rs232. XM10E or XM10U is the one that connects to Comfort
Darren is correct that the XM10E/U does send and receive x10 commands. Hence it is likely that the transmitter in the XM10E is faulty

Correction... It is an XM10E which appears to be faulty.
