I’m thinking of buying a GSM4(3G) module, or may be rhe 2G version.

I have a spare UCM, can I use that rather than buying the whole UCM-GSM unit?

Also is the GSM4(3G) available on its own.

Thanks

You can buy the GSM submodule
but the UCM Firmware for GSM is diferent from the firmware for the regular UCM, so you cannot plug in a GSM onto a normal UCM baseboard
The UCM firmware  uses the Comfort  protocol while the uCM/GSM firmware talks to the GSM module using AT commands

Thanks. So does that mean I can use my existing UCM with different firmware then?

You can upgrading firmware on the UCM only to the same Type, eg GSM to GSM, USB/ETH to USB/ETH. It is not possible to upgrade firmware to a different type
