It would be useful to have a simple dated text field that records manual comments on changes made to a Comfigurator config file and stores the info inside the config file. Even just a single large text file would be useful - you could add dates and comments yourself and then if you opened various old backups of your configs you could be reminded what changes you'd made.
It would be useful if Comfigurator prompted you to edit/update the changelog field(s) when you saved the config file.
A richer version would have some sort of automated date + version number (that is incremented each time you save the file) and perhaps have flags (similar to the 'Selective' transfer options) that showed which types of changes had been made, plus the manual change log comments too.

When you save the config file just add a prefix to the saved file a/b/c etc!

actually comfigurator backs up the old versions of each cclx file
You can restore the older versions uasing File > Restore from Backup and look for the filename and date of save

Thanks, guys, I didn't quite mean either of those things though. I do rename the files (with a date) but a new filename isn't always enough to remind me of what changes I made to each config file. At the moment I keep a manual separate change log file with record such as:

17/9/2017 - Changed dial-out delay to 30 seconds and re-ordered phone numbers 1 and 2
10/9/2017 - Added delay to "Gate Open" warning message so only triggered at most once per minute.
Etc.

It was just the idea of building that simple textual log into the file so that it prompted you to (optionally) add a comment about what you'd changed, and it stored that info inside the CCLX file so it was always there.

You could use the Comments box in General Information for the change log, as that allows a lot of text?

Yes, that would probably work for now. It's just that if the product could prompt you to type/add comments it places more process/rigour around changes.

Anyway, thanks. I'll start using that field for now.

We have been installing Comforts for years all our files are version numbered and all comments are posted against version numbers in the comments box.

Thanks. I guess I didn't spot that field. Will definitely start using it from now on.
