I am currently having an upgrade session on my Comfort - for too long I have contemplated getting a UCM/GSM4. Every time I look at the festoon of telecom cables within easy reach I think I must get on with it...
A quick google around and I find articles telling me that 3G is likely to go before 2G
https://www.mobileworldlive.com/featured-content/top-three/operators-vendors-forecast-long-life-2g/
With 2G more likely to exist/continue in the rural areas.
I am in a semi urban area so I find myself wondering whether buying a UCM/GSM4(2G) unit will be a false economy.
Also I have no idea whether it will work until I plug it in and put a SIM in it.
ie will the local site - most likely EE - still be working on 2G?
Questions:
What are the thoughts of others?
Where can I get a unit from (UK stockists are slow to respond)?
Can I buy the 3G daughterboard separately?
Is there a 4G version in the pipeline?
Thank you

Some countries have discontinued 2G, none have discontinued 3G so far

I believe some  3G only  plans G eg "3" are cheaper

This site shows coverage for various mobile providers in the UK
http://www.coverage-maps.co.uk/

Currently there is no 4G gsm module (from Cytech) as this would be much more expensive at this stage of the technology

you can buy just the GSM submodule for the UCM/GSMx, so this would be the way to upgrade if in future there is a 4G version. Users of the 2G version are able to upgrade to 3G in this way

Thank you Already in contact with Both. Hunders (actually Hunters) do not carry stock and appear to order from you each time.
Laser are helpful and I am just about to order from them.
