I have just exchanged the ethernet controller to an ETH03, and at the same time upgraded the firmware to v2.20. The controller is a Comfort II Ultra, file system 34, version 7.057. The communicating computer is win 10 on the same network.

The problem is that if I now try to connect to comfort over the network I get the warning 'Failed to connect to UCM - please check the UCM connection settings'. I also have an oddity in that although I have upped firmware to 2.20, the CSM shows it on the bottom of the screen to be 2.0.9 (see image)
I have maually entered an IP address which I know is clear on my network, and can ping it successfully.
I haven't a clue where to go from here, any ideas?

Julian

Correct the mask first and then try again.

Thanks for that Ingo. It just shows you can stare a an obvious error for hours and still not see it!
Unfortunately it hasn't changed anything. I am wondering if the firmware upload was corrupt, hence the two version numbers showing. I have tried reinstalling the firmware but can't get a connection now to do it.

The bottom version is the Comfort server manager software version
The one on the line is ETH03 firmware
If the UCM doess not respond, check that the D9 and D10  leds on the UCMbaseboard are flashing

Yes, both D9 and D10 are flashing and all LEDs on the ethernet board are lit. I have pressed the reset button, but still no response.

I have just discovered a newer datasheet which has a paragraph entitled ' To reinitialise ETH03 to default settings. I have followed the instructions but still no comms. All it seemed to do was change the last two digits of the IP address and tick the DHCP option. The version stayed at 2.20

Also check your UCM firmware. You mentioned you replaced an Ethernet module so I assume you removed an old Eth01/2 and replaced it with a Eth03??

Thanks for all your help, I've found the problem.

For future readers: I backed out of firmware 2.20 on ETH03 by overwriting it with 2.01, that gave me network functionality back. I then upgraded the system to 7.099, which then allowed me to install 2.20 again. For completness I have upgraded UCM7 to 7.076 too.

The REAL problem is that although this information is all on the forum  somewhere, it is VERY hard to find unless you live here. The search function is limited to say the least.

All's weel that ends well!

Julian
