I was making a small change to my Comfort this morning via Comfigurator v3.10.11 and I suddenly received an 'Unhandled Exception' error. Now everything appears to be screwed up! My keypad is saying 'WRONG TEXT. PUSH *1 TOGETHER" I have tried resetting the keypad - no change. If I try and write the config file to Comfort via Eth03 it shows an error 'This configuration's vocabulary differs from that currently defined within Comfort. Do you want to continue?' I've tried YES and it still throws an unhandled exception if I click on ANY function in the left panel of Comfigurator (file attached) I've tried a back-up (unmodifed and previously working as at 10 Jan 2016) configuration file - I get the same message and it also throws an unhandled exception once (apparently) loaded. I've tried re-setting Comfort via Comfigurator - no change. I have turned the entire system off electrically (and removed back-up battery); waited for a while and reconnected and tried a write again. Same problem. I've removed and reinstalled Comfigurator 3.10.11 from scratch - same problem. I've used 'reset' button on main circuit board - same problem. I'm at my wits end!! What is happening - and how do I recover? I've made no changes to the backup file and it had been working perfectly up to 10 Jan when I recall upgrading Comfigurator (and saving the file as a precaution). Since then, the current file had also been working perfectly, although I can see it was written to this morning. I'll attach a couple of screen dumps I took of system information as this may be of help. Any assistance will be very gratefully received!! Mike

Does Comfort still have voice, ie when you sign in does speak the voice menu?
If so then it is still working and the problem may be a corrupted file
The exception says that a file has missing information
Do File > Update Defaults to update the default configuration files
However this feature does not work due to a bug in 3.10.11"To work-around the problem with the Update Defaults feature, please unzip the 2 files from this link http://www.cytech.biz/download_files.php?item_id=843 and save in the Comfigurator Installation folder. You do not need to execute the files"
If you still have problems send the cclx file to support@cytech.biz

I've done exactly as you suggested but it hasn't made any change. There is NO voice at the keypad, and it still shows the message "Wrong Text - Push *1 Together". The system appears to be 'partially' working - if I load the old working file, although I STILL throw an unhandled exception at virtually every mouse click, I can see the status of sensors etc. But I do notice that my System Information is showing what appears to be some strange values (see attached file). The System Vocab; User Vocab; LCD Text and LCD KP Min values are ALL zero (0). Surely, this is NOT correct? (Unfortunately, I don't have a saved screen-shot of what these were before, but there are some in various forum entries and they sure don't have zeros!). I've seen a reply at:
http://www.comfortforums.com/forum76/4255.html
which seems to be similar to my issue - I get that same message if I do a "Write (PC > Comfort)" operation. I can send my cclx file if required - I'm just not sure if it will provide any more information. So - should I do a vocabulary upgrade first (as suggested in that response above)? Is there any point in upgrading my firmware to 7.094?
Thanks for your help. This is very puzzling! - Mike

Here's my cclx file. As I've already said, it is 'sort-of' working, but with unhandled exceptions and vocabulary / text / voice problems. Thanks.

Please do a Vocabulary Upgrade
There is no need to upgrade the firmware to 7.094 as that only fixes a very specific problem which is not related
The system has lost its voice so it must be restored

Thanks so much for that advice. Updating the vocabulary fixed it! I have no idea what caused it to 'lose' its 'voice' yesterday. Is this a common error when changing the configuration? I did have a problem during the vocab upgrade. It stopped at about 62% of the 'LCD Upgrade' part with a message on the screen saying "LCD Upgrade failed with error code 29. Please try LCD upgrade again" and a message on the keypad 'Keypad NOT polled". I assumed that starting from a 'Sentence Upgrade' would be adequate, and it was - this time the keypad upgrade completed, after the sentence upgrade, and complete with multiple beeps from it! The SystemInfo data now looks very different - I'll save this as a reference for the future!
I will add that I was trying to make a small change in the CBus configuration yesterday when this failure occurred. I do note that in the CBus UCM manual, it suggests that each CBus group will be automatically associated with a Comfort counter ie Group 25 is 'linked' to Counter 25. However, in the CBus UCM lighting tab, a Group can be linked to a "Register" which can be one of a-
counter;
virtual i/p;
flag;
output;
output toggle or
output pulse
There is no mention of this in the manual, and I am somewhat confused. Using the term 'Register' is in itself confusing, I believe. It isn't mentioned anywhere else! The concept of having a counter track a switch level is entirely understandable - but what do the alternatives do, and why? And how can making a change in a CBus configuration delete the vocabulary? Am I the only one who finds this somewhat confusing?
Thanks again for your very rapid responses. I am very grateful and appreciative!

Writing to comfort should not cause the vocabulary to be lost. This is a random problem that occurs from time to time. It probably happened at the reset at the end of the write to Comfort. Sometimes another reset can recover the voice
I do note that in the CBus UCM manual, it suggests that each CBus group will be automatically associated with a Comfort counter ie Group 25 is 'linked' to Counter 25.
You were reading the UCM/Cbus1 manual
UCM/Cbus2 is different, it allows different registers to be assigned to Cbus. This is the version that you have, according to the scanned modules in your cclx
see http://www.cytech.biz/ucmcbus2_manual.html for UCM/Cbus2 manual

I'm confused. In the section you gave me a link to, although it actually says UCM/CBUS2, the file is dated 16 APR 2014. In the section marked UCM/CBUS Manual (which I assumed to be version 1?), the file title says UCM/CBUS2 manual and is called cbus2man_1.pdf and is dated 15 AUG 2015. Later than the supposed version 2 manual?? What is worse is that neither file will actually download! The download starts, but nothing happens and they sit there '0 bytes of 0 bytes' I've tried a couple of browsers - same thing. Looks to me like there is a bit of tidying-up needed on your web site!! No surprise I've been reading the wrong manual - it certainly looks like the manuals are in the wrong place (but I can't tell because they won't download........)

Yes, that is much better!
I think that is why I was quoting from the version #1 manual. I'd downloaded it from under the version #2 heading, and assumed it was correct. Of course, I didn't bother to look under the version #1 heading....why would I?
But as you say, the (correct!) version 2 manual is very informative, and explains exactly what I need to understand.
I have noticed the issue of not being able to download before. We are on the same time zone, of course, so do I assume you often perform web-site maintenance in the (our) evening? That could explain the problem - I had absolutely no issues this morning.
Thanks again for all the help - and glad we found, and fixed, that anomaly with the manuals.

There has been no maintenance on the server for some timePerhaps just a momentary glitch
But it s good that you can now make full use of the UCM/Cbus2
