KP04A is an improved version of KP04 (and which replaces it) with programmable settings replacing fixed shunts, able to be changed via Comfigurator, and the ability to upgrade its firmware via Comfigurator. KP04A firmware can be upgraded by right-clicking in Modules Tab and selecting "Check for Upgrades" The KP04A leaflet/manual can be downloaded from http://www.cytech.biz/kp04a_keypad_with_lcd_white.html The most noticeable visible change may be the LCD which has a whiter background. Otherwise the appearance is the same as KP04A. Internally, the main change is the absence of shunts for the setting of ID and tamper enable. The ID is changed by using the KP04 Buttons in a similar way to KP06. All programmable settings are done via the settings mode and also by means of Comfigurator, which can be used to write and read KP04A settings To change settings in KP04A, Engineer Code must be enabled by pressing the F and then 0 keys. Press and hold the * key for 4 seconds until "Enter Engineer Code" is seen. If Engineer Code has not been enabled, press F and 0 now and press and hold * again. Enter the Engineer code (default 6789) and the # key. The following keys are used in the settings menu;
eg to change the KP04A ID; The ID is the first menu setting default = 1. Press 8 to increment the ID to 2,3,4 etc. Press F to go to Save. No is default. Press 8 to go to "Yes" Press F to confirm. KP04A is reset. The new ID is applied after reset. A video of changing the KP04A settings can be seen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0RfeTLmDkI Last edited on Sunday Nov 15th, 2015 07:29 am by slychiu |

The KP04A properties can be read or changed using the latest version of Comfigurator. Go to the Modules Tab and Scan for Modules to detect the keypads and modules in the system. Then select KP04A on the left pane. The Properties can be seen on the right pane Change the properties by clicking on the right of the setting. "Write to Keypad" writes the settings to KP04 "Read from Keypad" reads the settings from KP04A |

The KP04A PCB has red and green LEDs which show the status of RS485 communications with Comfort (just like UCM) Both RED and GREEN leds should be blinking steadily if communications with Comfort is working. The GReen led flashes when the KP04A is polled by Comfort The RED led flashes when the KP04A replies to Comfort. Hence if Green LED is off, it means KP04A is not getting any communications from Comfort. This could be a connection or wiring problem, or a fault with Comfort. If the green led is flashing but RED led is off, it means the Comfort is sending messages but KP04A is not replying. This could be an ID problem. Comfort may not be polling this ID. Do a scan for modules, and/or change the KP04A ID Keypad IDs should be consecutive, eg 1,2,3,4 etc with no missing IDs. This video shows the KP04A leds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6w8LC59pkjU |
