Hi,
I have a UCM universal with ETH03 and all is working well except for the fact that I cant get the UCM (or rather ETH03) to make a TCP connection to my remote server.
My ETH03 is recognized and has a valid dhcp IP, I can even telnet into its port and I can see any text I type coming out on the monitor mode window, so that part is working.
When I change the mode to client/server or client, and enter an IP address/port number then submit, it seems to do make the change, but does not establish a connection.
if I hit clear list, then refresh, it refreshes with the configuration I want, but still does not work. Interestingly, playing with changing other parameters (dhcp, server port, etc). It seems that the only thing I can change that seems to work is the IP address. Everything else says it has changed but doesn't appear to have. For example, if I change the server port to 10000, it still listens on 1001 even though the refresh says its on 10000.
The reboot button seems to be more like a reset to factory default, it overwrites the IP back to dhcp, however at least the refresh button then shows the config as iit originally was before my changes. (i.e. back to cserver mode on port 1001).
I have upgraded to the latest firmware 1.15 and am running CS Manager under windows 8. The server port is definitely open (a telnet shows data coming back). Any ideas why I this is not working?

Also, one further thing I have noticed which I am sure is config related. When I telnet to the server port, and type for example "this is a test", on the monitor mode, I see "< his is a". I seem to have lost the first char, and only take 8 characters. If I type 1234567890 in a telnet, I get "< 2345678 in the monitor mode screen. Any ideas what config I need to change for this?
Many Thanks

Hi, freak69
your UCM Universal with ETH03 everything working well except remote access, so your main problem is solving this right? see my answer below:

1.the remote access not working no related to ETH03, it is related to your remote server and your router port forwarding normally! when ETH03 Using in Universal normally working in client mode, it act as client to communicate with 3nd party device,so your remote setting also need match with client mode

2.in server or client mode----any time UCM can only work in one mode, either server or client mode, during this mode, ETH03 is acting as a client first, if no target
exist for some seconds, it act as server to listen, after that, it become client again....for this mode, ETH03 is cater for some special requirement, since your ETH03 is plugged in Universal UCM, it is no need in this mode

3.telnet to the server port, when you key character such as in hyper terminal, you need put delay or put STX ..etc in universal property

4.server port 10000 become 1001 after refresh, seems ETH03(univesal)firmware not match with the CSManager, thanks for this! we will look at this

Hi,
Many thanks for your reply.I am certain there are no network issues, since both the ETH03 and remote server (PC) are on the same LAN segment (PC has no FW running). I can ping and connect to the ETH03 from anywhere on the network, no problem, and I can confirm the PC server port I want the module to connect to is open as I get valid data when I telnet to it myself from a second PC. An incorrect setting should be easy to spot as I'd see the failed connection attempt when I run wireshark on the server PC.
My main problem I believe is that I am unable to get the ETH03 into server mode. I try the following:
- Change the IP address.  - works, but a reboot resets back to DHCP.- Change port 1 on server mode to another value, say 10000 - doesn't make any change, still the default on 1001 is accepted and no connection on port 10000.- Change the mode to client mode - ETH03 does not make a connection. Netstat and wireshark on the windows PC confirm this (no data coming from eth03's IP address), as does a telnet, since I can still connect to its port 1001, meaning it is still in server mode, not client mode?- same as above with client/server mode
The first thing I did when I got the module online was to upgrade the firmware from 1.06 to 1.15, wondering if this is an issue. I cant confirm that it was working before as I never tried it. Also, I noticed that with 1.06, the Web (demo) button was active and worked with a small web page. Now on 1.15, it is greyed out. Perhaps it might be worth reflashing the old version 1.06 if you can give me a link to download it?
Lets get this working first and can then work on the other issues later.
ThanksPaul

Hi, freak69

we can see your problem and already fixed it in new firmware version,if you want to test the new version, we can send you the test firmware in private or you can wait for our final release after new year!
you can't go back to old version, it is not match with the CSManager

by the way, the Web(demo)function related to web server not enabled in any ETH03 firmware although you saw the button is active before....
