I have a Comfort II PCB with Firmware ULT 5.045 and a UCM06/ETH02 with firmware 6.xxx and I wish to use the iPhone app. Can you confirm that the necessary upgrades are as follows:
Upgrade UCM to latest firmware
Buy MPU01 and upgrade Comfort II to latest firmware
Also, what are the benefits in upgrading to ETH03?
Thanks for your help

Eth3:
My two-penneth:
- Smaller and runs a lot cooler; could fry an egg on my Eth2.
- Software updating a lot easier and Comfort Manager a lot better than the old Tibbo software.
- Email and Time Sync features possible.
- Perhaps more to come from Cytech in future as more programmable.

Thanks Julian - I suppose if I am upgrading I might as well get all the latest hardware.
Thanks slychiu - what sort of scenario would require 2 ports?
If I decide to go to ETH03 should I replace the UCM as well? The one I have at the moment has UCM PC01-066A and P049671 on it.

ComfortClient on the one port and iPhone app on the second.
PS. You only need to upgrade the Eth02 to Eth03 module.

The hardware has arrived but I see the ETH03 needs UCM firmware 7.028 or above so I presume I need to upgrade this before installing the ETH03. The current setup of UCM06/ETH02 seems to be working fine: I can Buzz the ETH using DS Manager and see the green and orange lights flash and I can execute responses and download configuration to Comfort using Comfigurator. However, when I use the Modules tab and right click on the UCM and select "Download Firmware Upgrade" I get "Failed to connect to UCM - please check the UCM Connection Settings". How should I proceed?

The UCM Manual can be downloaded by selecting the UCM in Modules and clicking Display Manual as shown below (example shows UCM/KNX)
After that, right click the UCM then choose "upgrade firmware from local file". Select the firmware file you download previously.

"Download Firmware Upgrade" will download the latest firmware from the server into a local folder, so you can use "Upgrade from Local File" later
This (download firmware upgrade0 requires an Internet connection, but it does not require the UCM to connect. Are you sure you are right clicking on the UCM and selecting "Download Firmware Upgrades?"

Thanks for your suggestion CytechMartin. I downloaded the file and tried an update but got "Firmware upgrade encountered errors". I shut down Comfigurator, turned off the windows Firewall and tried the upgrade again and it worked OK. Was this a coincidence or could the firewall be blocking things?
Slychiu - when I right click on Controller and select Download Firmware upgrade I get "Module scanning requires Comfort version >= 5.154 and UCM version >= 5.171. Please add manually ....". When I right click on UCM01 and select Download Firmware upgrade I get the message "Failed to connect to UCM - please check the UCM Connection Settings". In both cases the "Check for firmware upgrade" is greyed out in the context menu.

We have not found any problem with Windows firewall so far
The module scanning may not have returned the correct results the first time
So is everything OK now?

Yes thank you in the sense that I have upgraded the firmware on the UCM. I will now install the ETH03 and the MPU01 and see if things become a bit more consistent.
Thanks for your help.

I have now installed the MPU01 and everything seems to be working ok including scanning the modules and executing responses and downloading configuration consistently without errors. The only strange thing I noticed is that the UCM serial number is shown as "Invalid" and the Comfort serial number is shown as "Unknown". Perhaps this doesn't matter much as everything appears to be working ok.
I now want to upgrade the Comfort MPU firmware from 6.011 to latest. The latest instructions here http://www.comfortforums.com/forum92/3400.html specify minimum Comfort firmware of 7.xxx. The instructions in the MPU manual talk about using programming cable but I thought with Comfort firmware 6.xxx there was a better method. Can you point me to instructions for upgrading the Comfort firmware from 6.011 to latest please?

If your ucm is version 7 then you should be able to upgrade the comfort firmware using the instructions in that link
If your ucm is version 6 you can upgrade the ucm firmware by the same method

My UCM is firmware version 7.061 (with ETH02) and Comfort firmware is 6.011. After scanning, I right click on controller and select "Check for firmware upgrades". It asks "The current version is 6.011.Do you wish to upgrade to the latest version 7.065?" I click on Yes and it says "Module, Comfort & UCM version must be at least 7 to upgrade this module's firmware by bus. Please upgrade using the UCM programming cable."

My MPU01 was delivered with the link on PP2 in place. The instructions didn't say remove it so I didn't but I see from the instructions to do a Comfort firmware upgrade using the programming cable that this link should be in place for the upgrade then removed. Things seem to be working normally with the link in place so should I now remove it until upgrading by cable? Could the link being in place be the reason that attempting to upgrade by Comfort bus did not work (see above 2nd Jan 2015)?

It is advisable for the PP2 shunt to be removed but it normally does not cause problems
You can leave it in
It is not the reason for not being able to upgrade by bus
You should be able to do the firmware upgrade by bus now

I upgraded to Comfigurator 3.9.7 but still could not upgrade Comfort firmware by bus. However, I upgraded to 7.063 using the programming cable and then was able to upgrade to 7.065 by bus.
G2 of iPhone and iPad apps now working OK. Thanks to all for your help.
