what different between KA/KB and RS485

Hi,
what different between KA/KB and RS485  because i reading  RS485 is 4 wire (KA,KB,0,12v) 
ucm,RIO,SEM connected to RS485 or  KA/KB ,0,12

The 4 way RS485 connector has the same signals as 12V, COM, KA and KB
The 4 way rs485 connector can be connected to UCMs using the 4 way white cable which is supplied with any UCM. However it is also possible to connect to UCMs using the terminal blocks for 12V, COM, KA and KB, as they are the same
