I have a number of items controlled by Cbus, and also some by Comfort. The two communicate via the CBus UCM. Is it possible for the CBus to transmit an ASCII code to comfort in order to bypass zones as it makes things operate? If so, does anybody know how? There is no mention I can see in either PICED or toolkit manuals. TIA |

Hi Julian I have achieved this by connecting a straight UCM to a Rs232 output of a Cbus colour touch screen, a PAC would work as well. The first thing you have to send is the Comfort log-on code from Cbus I can't be much more help as I never turned into a working system. I had it set up for Homevision to talk to Comfort so substituting Homevision with Cbus was easy to test. It is easy to test the asci code you want to send to Comfort as you can cut and past them into the UCM I/O Monitor in Comfigurator. As far a I am aware the cbusUCM will only allow Cbus to change counter values in its present form. Hope this helps Mike |

I dont think cbus is able to send ASCII text but you can use a group address mapped to a counter Response to bypass zones |

Look into PAC/CTouch Logic, there are commands to send ASCII strings out the serial port. I've never done it myself but a few guys on the Cbus forum connected various RS232 devices EG. weather stations etc. to a PAC or CTouch. Ingo |

As mentioned in the UCM/Cbus manual http://www.cytech.biz/ucmcbus_manual.html each Light group address is mapped to a Comfort counter eg group 1 is mapped to Counter 1, group 2 to counter 2,... group 254 to counter 254 eg when Cbus group 1 On or off is received by UCM/Cbus it triggers Counter 1 Response Assign a Response to Counter 1 If LastUcmCounter = 0 Then Unbypass Zone03 else Bypass Zone03 End If This means when you send group address 1 on, it will bypass the zone3, if you send group address 1 off it will unbypass zone 3 |
