I am in the process of commissioning a system. I've managed to upgrade most of my components... (despite a few troubles with virtual windows using Parallels, etc...): comfort to 7.042 UCMETH2 to 7.028 Zwave to 7.031 And both KT03s to 7.029 I also have a DM02 module attached, but have not wired the DS02 yet. Or the PIRs. One of the KT03s works fine, the one set to ID 1, however, the other one set to ID2 is not responsive. It worked somewhat better when I first plugged it in after the upgrade(although the screen was upside down, and the time was off.). I tried to change the orientation of the screen through configurator so that it would be Landscape Inverse. Ever since then it is acting up. It has a constant white screen and every once in a while it gives me a message saying "communications error due to wrong ID" with an icon at the bottom of the screen to change IDs. I change the ID from FF to 2 (even though configuration says its ID2) and then the screen goes blank again. So I have two questions: 1) How do I get it to work and with the correct ID 2) How do I get it to change to Landscape Inverse (changing the setting in configurator alone does not seem to do the trick. Could it be my wiring? Many thanks, Willem Last edited on Thursday Nov 7th, 2013 06:41 am by lab-art |

Swap the 2 over to check the wiring Mike |

Thanks. Swaping them around makes a lot of scense. Why didn't I think of that. I'll do that tonight when I get back to the system. Here is some further info from a PM message on the topic: I have a feeling that the firmware upgrade was successful and it is some other problem. I did see a somewhat normal screen when I first booted up ( although the time was off, but as it was inversed I changed the drop down parameter to landscape inversed. That is when the white screen started appearing. I'm not sure what the original firmware was, but it was a minor one, the main number stayed the same. Also the working KT03 is showing an RS485 error. When you do a scan for modules can you see the two KT03s? |

It does seem to be scanning it. However, it comes out red as it is not polling it. Please see attached image. Also, I rebooted Configurator to look for it and in the process got a phantom Keypad which I deleted according to the instruction in: http://www.comfortforums.com/view_topic.php?id=3368&forum_id=20&highlight=configurator+setup Attachment: configurator screen shot.png (Downloaded 56 times) Last edited on Thursday Nov 7th, 2013 07:40 pm by lab-art |

Here is a shot of the message I get on the afflicted Keypad. Sorry that it's upside down. I've tried to inverse it... Willem Attachment: keypad photo.JPG (Downloaded 55 times) |

MikeGriff, I have now flipped the two and the same thing happens. In other words the same unit has the problems... So I don't think it is the wiring. I'm thinking of sending the firmware once again? Blah Willem |

Oh no.! I upgraded the firmware of the "white screen" KT03 by programming cable and somehow the non attached (only through Comfort) KT03 was affected. Now both of the KT03s have white screens and are un-responsive. When turning the system on the Cytec screen appears on the KT03 and then the system microphone say the usual: "Security off" and then goes blank. It sleeps after a while and on touching it it turns bright white again. The whole time the LED is flashing. Does anyone have any idea as to what is happening? I'm stumped. Many thanks in advance. the KT03 IDs after scanning show as 1 and 2, with the ID 2 "Not Polled" That means that the number of Keypads is set to 1 so the 2nd ID is not polled After scanning do a write to Comfort to fix this so the number of keypads is written to Comfort. Do this from the UCM or the KT with ID=1 The white screen is probably because you have not got a valid configuratiom in KT03 Go to the KT03 configuration, check that you have loaded a configuration or the default KT03 template annd do a write to KT03 |

Thanks Ident, I've tried to write to the KT03. However, the results are erratic. I press the "write to Keypad" and it proceeds to give me a message that it is "erasing Flash memory" then it takes 15 - 20 minutes to get to anywhere between 15-33% complete before giving me an error. The keypad itself has some icons on it but is a quite jumbled and incoherent. For instance the Panic button leads you to control page. Could it be somehow that the communication is incorrect? From the instructions writing should only take about a minute. http://www.comfortforums.com/forum92/3409.html Why is it taking so long? Why is the writing process not completing? Its working. Thanks Ident, I gave up on upgrading the KT03 via the UCM Ethernet. It was taking ages. So, I gave the USB a try. That has now allowed me to do a write to both KT03s. They are now working. I have also done a write to Comfort. the first KT03 has ID setting of 1 and the second to 2. After a reboot they are both polling Another thing. It looks like the icons on quite a few of the KT03 pages overlap the text. It looks like configurator has the same thing. Are there any more up to date templates that I should be downloading prior to amending them myself? Willem PS. Also, why do you think that the UCM is so much slower than the USB? Writing to KT03 by its USB is much faster than by UCM as stated in http://www.comfortforums.com/view_topic.php?id=3394&forum_id=90 This is because the USB is a direct connection to KT03 while writing to KT03 via UCM has to go via UCM to Comfort via Comfort Bus to KT03 The same applies for KT03 firmware upgrade, much faster by KT03 USB However doing it via UCM has the possibility of remote programming which is useful for installers who need to do something for customers remotely If you upgraded from older KT03s eg version 2, then the handling of the write to KT03 and firmware upgrading were not as good as the latest firmware so you should not have the problems with erros if you do it with the new firmware which are are screens with the overlapping buttons You may be using old pages Open a new KT03 template and check if this happens If so send a screen shot |

Thanks Idnet, The icons don't overlap exactly. Its that the icons hide the text. see picture. You mention for me to open a new template. Perhaps this is a basic question, but where can I find these templates? I have played around with configurator to create my own sheets which seems rather straight forward but if there were examples of others that had already been created it would be helpful. The icons are not correct You must be using an old file Load template can be found on the KT03 configuration menu as shown below Look for kt03 template fiiles with extension .kt3x in the folder Program Files\Cytech\Comfigurator 3\config It will override your KT03 pages The KT03 tutorial at http://www.comfortforums.com/forum90/2004.html has the relevant information |

Ident, I had not seen your reply here. Sorry. I have to a large extent recreated my own template but on seeing your reply I thought that I would look at the built in template. There are two in the Config folder on my hard drive (port and def). As you can see the kt3x file does not look remotely like the screen shots in the tutorial http://www.comfortforums.com/forum90/2004.html I've also looked through the Google drive to see if I could find something there but the KT03 folder only contains the firmware and manual. It would still be nice to get the most up to date template though. The defaults on Comfigurator are correct This is what the same kt03def.kt3x looks like on my computer See the red handles around the speaker? expand the button size by moving the bottom border down, you should be able to see the whole image with text what computer, OS and screen size are you using? I'm running Win7 over Parallels with a screen of 1680x1050. But I'm not sure why the operating system should affect it. What I see on my screen is what then appears on the KT03 once transferred. Having said this it is rather easy, as you mention, to play with the icons to make things fit. expanding the red area, moving things around, changing fonts etc. I have almost finished this with my other KT03. I was just wondering why my default template was corrupted. Last edited on Thursday Nov 21st, 2013 09:35 am by lab-art |

we do not see this effect on our computers we do not have a Mac to try it, I suspect this is corupting it Do you have another computer to try, perhaps a windows PC? |
