I note this from the "Whats New in Comfigurator 3.7.6" postSecurity Types > Alarm Types I've possibly been a naughty boy and already changed the name of Alarm 18 - CMSTest - as I've repurposed it for something else (used for reporting low light from a photocell, also forming a daily message confidence test). Now I've upgraded to 3.7.6, I'm stuck with my new (but temporary) name, and can't edit it. Is there anyway to override the Alarm Type name for these now 'fixed' types? Or is it just a case of slapped wrists for being a naughty boy and changing it in the first place! |

Ok, I've been an even naughtier boy now and modified it in the XML in the .cclx file. Is this a really bad idea? |

CMS test is not really used by Comfort. It is used in a default response but that response is not normaly used Hence you can change it The ones that should not be changed ae Intruder, Panic, Fire, Tamper, Duress, Trouble. Comms failure etc that are needed by the system We should clarify that better in future |

I changed the names of several alarm types to use them for my own purposes. Not the obvious ones - intruder, etc. This enabled me to send meaningful text/SMS messages concerning my own type of alarms. Water alarms, medical alarms, etc. Now I see I cannot edit many of the names at all. This ability to edit the name seems to be based on the property of the alarm type: if its referenced anywhere in the file, it cannot be edited. Can this be reversed? You have to remove the references to the alarm types so that they are not used You can change the names of the alarms in GSM4 instead so there is no need to change the names in alarm types |

GSM4? I have had my GSM for a number of years. My GSM is currently on 6.081 firmware. If I update it to 7.029 firmware will I be able to change the names of the alarms? |

UCM/GSM4 will allow you to indpependenyly name the alarm types, user names and zone names as well sending help messages to tell you what are the commands you can send to Comfort, see http://www.comfortforums.com/view_topic.php?id=3527&forum_id=48 See the section on upgrading from UCM/GSM3 You can buy a GSM4 submodule and an EEPROM to upgrade to UCM/GSM4 If yours is a SIM900 module then you do not need to buy the submodule |
