In your upgrade steps for switching from 7.029 (GSM) to 7.030 (GSM4) can you be a bit clearer about when you physically replace the daughtercard in the sequence; is it while you are still on 7.029 or do you do once you have flashed to 7.030. Maybe it doesn't matter but good to be clear so you don't wreck anything.

You must replace the SIM900 submodule before upgrading to GSM4 firmware
If you do not have SIM900, ULT 7.037 (beta) will still have many of the new features except for the help functions

You would need to buy a GSM4 submodule to replace the (Siemens) submodule that you have. I dont know if we have a price for that yet but it should not too high
Next you need to put in the U2 EEPROM. Yours does not have an IC socket in the U2 position. If you are handy with a soldering iron you can solder in the 8 pin IC socket and get a U2 eeprom to plug in

I presume all new UCM's are getting a U2 socket fitted as standard these days?

Thanks Chiu
New module arrived and Eeprom installed
It is worth pointing out that you need to make a link where the jumper was that selected U2 as master.
I failed to spot this first time
Also I had only enabled
Allow SMS Conrol,Arm,Disarm
in the entry for SMS Not the entry for voice
This meant that any txt from my phone returned:
Command not permitted
This was cured by enabling the Voice phone
Allow SMS Conrol,Arm,Disarm
Hope this helps
Mike

Do you have 2 types of phone (i.e. Voice and SMS) with the same number programmed?

We should have pointed out in the docs that both the Voice Phone and SMS phone which are programmed in the Phone numbers are allowed to send SMS to Comfort
So if you have both sms and voice phone with the same phone number, both numbers need to have the phone permits set up
Otherwise the firmware will find the 1st phone number that matches and use the phone permits for that phone
Thanks for the feedback, you are probably the first customer to upgrade and use UCM/GSM4.

I think it is a great upgrade.
It proves that the daughter boards are a great idea as it is a reasonably priced upgrade for all.
Still playing with it
But it now is User friendly
Congrats all round

In Comfigurator (using 3.7.6.0), where in the Response Wizard would I find Action 155 (Send SMS Message)? I am able to manually edit the action codes, but was wondering if was added to the Edit/Append new Action sub menus.

Send SMS Message should be in the Output Menu which may not be the most logical place to find it

You need to purchase the GSM4 submodule and a U2 EEPROM 24C256
You can then upgrade the firmware to GSM4 via the intermediate firmware GSM 7.029 as described

Thanks ident.
Do you know if my module has the IC socket in the U2 position, or whether I will have to solder one onto the board (as happened in a previous post)?

It does not look like the U2 socket has been soldered
You need to solder the 8 pin socket and the shunt for selecting U2/U3 as described in the previous post
