Some time ago we had a pretty close experience with an electrical storm (it took out a computer screen and the front end of a Video player/DVD recorder) and ever since then the ringer on my system does not ring the home phones.
I can hear the relay clicking away but that's all. I am guessing that the spike took out something on the RGR circuit board.
Is there fusible link I can look at/check or shall I just bin it and buy a new one?
Thanks
There are no fuses that can be changed on the RGR. A lightiing surge may affect other components which have not completely failed so it is adviable to buy a replacement
Is it the RGR05?
First remove the RGR from Comfort and make sure everything is working well without it (in case there is damage on Comfort as well)
I wasn't expecting a fuse but possibly a link that might have gone. Much more likely a component!
As I said in my first post the strike was over a year ago. It is only today that I have finally got fed up with missing people at the door!
Everything else on comfort is working OK.
I am not sure which RGR it is - I thought I could add a photo to the thread at this stage but it looks like that has to be done at the outset. Can you tell please which it is from the the photo at this link http://www.jam96.com/rgr.jpg
thanks
"RGR04 uses a different IC module to do the ringing"
Thank you for the detailed reply.
Am I to assume you released the 05 simply because components for the 04 ceased to be available?
