HI All, I have been getting some help from admin but they cannot replicate this issue- I think it is an issue with the UCM CBUS as my CBUS network appears fine (all buttons work & status is updated in the toolkit). Within Comfort the status of each CBUS takes a minute or so to update, I am also unable to issue any commands for example turn lights off or on. It looks like Comfort issues the command but it receives the same response everytime. Admin have suggested I return the module but I would prefer to try and identify the issue before I send it off for repair / replacement. When I issue a command I always get the same response back < RA0000 for example selecting a response: Cbus On UCM02 3 I get the following: > DAC5120379FF < RA0000 The strange thing is that if I remove the wiring from the CBUS Sim and then put the wires back in it appears to work fine for 10 minutes and then stops again. I have checked all wiring and replaced the wiring between the UCM Cbus & Cbus. can anyone give any suggestions as to what may be happening. Hopefully I can resolve before having to return the module. |

When the problem occurs, what are the state of the leds RDY, BUSY1, BUSY2, ERR on the UCM when the Cbus bus is idle ir no buttons or commands being sent Only the Green RDY LED should be on steady. If there is blinking on the other BUSY1, BUSY2, ERR red leds every few seconds it means that the Cbus module is trying to initialise itself. If the ERR red led is on it means that it failed to initialise Have you set the unit address of the UCM/Cbus to an unused address on Cbus? It may be a faulty Cbus interface IC which is failing to communicate with the bus if it is unable to initialise, in which case the only solution is to obtain a replacement, since our warranty is 2 years |

Thanks Ident, I have spoken to Hendy - it works fine and then all of a sudden it attempts to re initialise. The supplier has confirmed that they will be replacing the module. Not 100% sure that this is the issue but I have exhausted all options. I am going to try and disconnect all CBUS Modules later except for 1 and see if that has any impact. |

It may be possible that there is some other problem on the C-bus When you get the replacement module and it still happens then that would appear to be the case |

Does the installation have low voltage downlights....... CBUS is effected by the capacitive effect of the transformers , if they are close to the limit when installed they may get worst over time. We have experienced whole system failures due to downlighter transformers. If you think this may be the problem take a couple of the larger load circuits and physically disconnect (requires electrically competent person) |

I understand that you received a replacement cbus module and the cbus is working now? If so the Cbus SIM Module may be faulty When we receive it back, we will check what was the fault Let us know if there is any problem |

I know it sounds sill but do check out the downlighters there IS an issue with capacitance on CBUS networks they DO cross over from the mains side to the network side. |

What happens in such cases? The Cbus becomes locked up? |

In our experience the problem starts with bus signals not activating. e.g. a light switch that was working ok suddenly starts to play up intermittently. The problem worsens over time. One sure way to tell - Switch ALL of the lights off and try to repeat the error! The installations where we have diagnosed this fault you could start with all the lights off and switch individual light circuits on and off OK when you got to about a dozen light circuits on the problem started to occur and worsened the more circuits were on, eventually it would simply lock up. |
