Would it be a good idea to create a separate UCM for connection to other systems that currently have connection via universal UCM...

I am well aware that RAKO and Lutron etc can be connected by universal UCM BUT by having a dedicated UCM you are able to place code (pre configured RS232 stings etc) and examples into Comfigurator this ultimately saves the installer a lot of time.

From Cytech point of view this may seem crazy - you are just going to tell me use the universal BUT i see this as a marketing opportunity and a way of enhancing the technical knowledge / ability of Comfort to interface with other third party systems

You should take a look at the very powerful capabilities of the Universal UCM 6.023

It is already possible to save pre-configured strings in the Universal UCM to be sent to the device

A screenshot from the Universal sample cclx file for Rako interface is shown below

There is an application note and a sample cclx file with the Rako commands to make it easy for the installer at http://www.comfortforums.com/view_topic.php?id=2940&forum_id=94&jump_to=12639#p12639

I understand what you are saying.

I think that my suggestion however provides a 'neater' route for someone specifying or installing the system.

To know that there is a 'dedicated' device for say RAKO Lutron etc I personally think is hugely beneficial. Also we have many situations where different systems talk to other systems with universal UCM's and although we can rename ..... anyway its a suggestion that i personally think has merit...

Perhaps other may have a view....

It would be great to make a dedicated UCM for every automation system in the market but it is just not possible in terms of resources available

If there is a good demand from say Rako or Lutron Installers or if Rako or Lutron would like to promote this solution to their installers then it could be justified to go that way

Why dont you suggest the idea to Rako or Lutron , if you do install these systems?
