Tried several security systems prior to Comfort. For me, my search is finished. I will never leave Cytech. Great product and support. It simply works and is very flexible.

Thanks for the confidence in us, TheMax74
So far we have 7 who took part in the poll. How about the other 3003 members?

This company went bankrupt before completing the installation.  I contacted Morban Limited which identified problems with the installation.  I then searched the list of approved installers and came across Keyways Security.  That company updated the installation, replacing some components and peripherals and restoring basic functionality.  However, they no longer have the expertise to maintain the system and have withdrawn from our contract.  Although I have basic functionality, the system has still not been fully installed.

I have just received an email asking me to complete your polls.

I would vote, but the poll has ended.

I self in installed Comfort maybe 12+ years ago, using it to replace a Modern Alarms system which I discovered I had been paying for Redcare monitoring on (for 6 years!) but it was never properly connected! Bought a new system when I moved 6 years ago and self installed again. Would do it a third time (or get it done for me).
My minor gripes are:
1/. I find the manuals a bit of a nightmare.
and
2/. I cannot program with a Mac (although I think this may have changed - I have a UCM/Eth which I bought some time back but have not gotten around to installing - I believe I can use this with a web interface - so must explore in more detail.

Haven't tried a web interface, but yeah, I have to boot-up Windows8 under Parallels to solve that lack of OSX software problem. That works well to the UCM/Eth and Comfigurator. I do all my firmware upgrades that way too.

"Haven't tried a web interface, but yeah,..."
Is here a web interface? or more accurately browser based interface?
(the answer, I know, can be found by trawling thru the forum so I am being a bit lazy I know!)

Just a great product, easy to install and if you have issues there is always help on the other end of your internet connection. I installed this myself and everything simply went together. Small issues with firmware upgrades were sorted in less than an hour. Where would you go or what would you have to pay for this type of service.

The UCM/ETH02 is a serial to ethernet converter and is not able to support a browser interface.
The later UCM/ETH03 can support a webserver so it may be able to implement a browser interface in future

I started by installing one of these for myself to learn how to install home automation systems and through trial and error using the forums and with the support from Cytech team I have now installed 3 of these systems proficiently. However I consider myself to always be on a learning curve with this equipment as I constantly update adding commands and components.

Unfortunately we are based in the south - if we are passing or you are prepared to pay for over night we would welcome the chance to commission the installaton.

I installed Comfort myself, I had Comfort 1 before Comfigurator and you had to program with CCX (I think it was called) and pay for a software licence. The addition of more UCMs with added functionality has been great. I started with X10 but now run CBUS for power control, Crestron for A/V / multi-room audio and of course Comfort for security.
I find myself using Comfort for a lot of automation logic mainly because its simple to program and solid for reliability. All of the house sub systems can communicate, I use Comfort as a "gateway" between the Crestron and C-Bus system. I avoid using PC based servers, used Homeseer years ago but found PC to less reliable. I have a rain sensor hooked up to Comfort to water my garden by triggering a pump in a water butt, last thing I need is a over-watered garden because the PC failed, so Comfort does this job just great.
Looking forward to see what is next for Comfort, nothing on the market quite like it!

The first software for programming Comfort was called CS-Xpress.
That was replaced by Comfigurator, versions 1, 2 and now 3

The version that required a licence to use was probably Comfigurator 1

I installed my own Comfort II system,  and in fact due to my ComfortClient development I also have a second Comfort II development rig based in the training rig chassis.

Apart from changing the batteries under to the correct schedule the system otherwise has given me many faultless years of service and hopefully will continue to do so (oops now I've tempted fate! :)).

I have to disagree with the comment about PC's being less reliable as a platform though;  yes I agree that Comfort II should be the hub of everyone's system but IMHO the PC can also play a part, and a reliable part at that as a presentation front-end for Comfort and as an additional gateway device to other technologies that Comfort II doesn't serve yet via UCM's, especially now that we can wall mount tablets etc. I have a Atom based low power PC with a 256GB SSD that has been running 24x7 for 2+ years now that has no moving parts and no issues.  It is fiddling with software etc that make PC's unreliable IMHO and because people tend to do that a lot then it does potentially reduce reliability; setup and leave alone then it can be just as reliable.  The same reliability drops can still happen with dedicated hardware such as Comfort when firmware is updated;  no difference IMHO.  Nobody thinks of an xbox, playstation or Sky HD box as being a PC do they but they are built on the same PC architecture/components.

Agree Jules, 10-15 years ago the best option of a low power PC was a laptop, no SDD, Raspberry PI's etc. You can make a PC run and run its all about the software!
