Hi - I need to connect 2 bell boxes to comfort - they are both "Risco Eurosec XS3D" bell boxes. These can be set to be SAB or SCB.

First question - please can you advise the connections?

I think I understand most connections, it's the OV and tamper connections that are confusing me (there is only one connection for tamper on the bellbox).

The connections are:

XS3D COMFORT
---------------------- ----------------------
12v (Perm 12v supply) SR+
0v (Ov from panel) ?????? - where connect?
S- (Siren neg trigger) SR-
ST-(Strobe neg trigger) STR-
TMPR (Tamper return) ?????? - where connect?

As you can see, there is only one tamper connection, so it's confusing me.

Second question - the instructions say connect the 2 bell boxes together, however, as I have 2 SEM's, I was just going to connect each bell box to their own connections on each SEM (and not wire them together in any way).

Will this work? Surely they will operate independantly?

If you have two bell boxes, the manufacturing instructions say connect all connections on both bell boxes back to the panel, except connect the TMPR on the 2nd bell box to the 0V on the 1st bell box, then connect the TMPR on the 1st bell box back to the panel. It says set one as SCB and one as SAB.

I think just connecting them as SAB and connecting to a separate SEM is easier.

Hoping you can help!

The principle for the tampers is to connect them in series
I dont understand why one should be SAB and the other SCB. Maybe other alarm installers would know better

You are right, much easier to connect the 2nd box to the Slave. Most other alarm panels do not have slave cvonnections for the Bellbox

One thing to note is the current draw of both Bell Boxes when in Alarm State. Some manufacturers have a facility whereby in SAB mode, the sirens activate in a reduced dB output to help reduce this.Check what current Comfort supplies to siren in alarm state so you don't overload.

Suspect your query regarding only one Tamper connection is that it is assuming a common ground (0V) for instance, therefore you will have to tie this into Comfort 0v connection.

Daisy chaining the tampers between boxes is just a method whereby you treat the tamper protection on the external bell boxes as a whole.
