Re: UCM ZWave and its set up

I have a question concerning the inclusion and copying of the network from the primary controller to the UCM (pages 11 & 12 of the UCM/Zwave3 manual).

I have an MK Astral system installed and the instructions with the Astral primary controller indicate that copying the network to other controllers requires that the primary controller first be put into "replicate transmit mode" by pressing "exc" and "Asc" together for two seconds.

The Cytech UCM instructions for Astral controllers is to put the primary controller into "inc" or "include mode" before putting the UCM into "learn". It does not mention the "replicate transmit mode" for this set up phase.

Is the "include mode" enough for this initial set up phase to copy the system to UCM Zwave?

Thanks

The Replicate mode by pressing EXC and ASC buttons is to copy or replicate   the network information to the UCM/Zwave

However, in the beginning, you need to to first Include the UCM/Zwave in the Z-Wave network

According to the UCM/Zwave manual page 11,
Inclusion
A new Z-Wave device must first be included in a Z-Wave network by the
Primary controller. It is assigned a Node ID.
Copying or Replication
This is the process of copying the network information (Ids and routing) from a
Primary to a Secondary Controller.

When the Primary Controller is set to Including Mode, pressing the LEARN button in Comfigurator will cause the UCM/Zwave to be included into the Z-Wave network

You can then define Virtual Nodes and Associate them with another Node.

After this has been done you then need to Replicate the Zwave node information back to UCM/Zwave and that is by pressing  ASC and EXC

Thanks for this,

Yes, the instructions on the UCM are clear about the use of "replicate" after the creation of virtual nodes.

However, where virtual nodes are not being created (for the moment) (mapping without virtual nodes) the instructions for the different brands of primary contoller devices on pages 13 and 14 seem to imply that the primary controller is being copied to UCM ZWave. In the case of the Astral controller (top of page 14) the intsruction is simply to use the "include mode". That's why I asked my original question. To put it another way: is this instruction (use "inc") enough to copy from the Astral Primary controller the system data needed to map the z-wave nodes in Comfort?

Thanks

Yes the Learn Mode for Include button handles both the Include and Copy functions.
