Hi all,
I am after some advice on whether the following scenario is achievable.
I have a CBUS network covering the House/ Garden and Outbuildings.
The house is protected by a Comfort II and the Outbuildings by a Comfort I.
My current plan is to have a UCM CBUS in each Comfort enclosure as I want both alarm panels to be able to control the whole cbus network - Is this possible? I am assuming as long as I have the CBUS SIM's at different group addresses this would work.
I have a Wiser interface attached to the CBUS network and plan to use the security application on the Wiser to allow control of both Comfort panels but have no idea if this is actually possible or how to do it - does anyone have experience of this?

2 Comforts with UCM/Cbus can be connected to the same Cbus network as long as their Unit addresses are diferent (this is set by the Cbus Toolkit)
Each Comfort can send messages to Cbus and will receive messages from Cbus mapped to counters. The counter responses of each Comfort must be programmed to respond to the appropriate group addresses
However using the Security application will cause a problem because Cbus assumes there is only one security system in the network. Hence if you arm through Cbus, both systems will be armed. When each system is armed by its own keypad then the status of the security on the Cbus Touchscreen will be updated to the latest security status message from one of the systems
In conclusion, it is better not to use the security application with 2 Comforts

Thanks Chiu,
I think I have come up with a potential solution to the problem in that a cbus network bridge can be programmed to filter applications across the bridge therefore the house side would only see a lighting application on the other half of the network that way I could have the security application control the house alarm which is the key one for me
This might also help to isolate the external (albeit in conduit) parts of the cbus from the house in the event of lightning strike etc.
Do you think this would work?
The other thing I am looking at is if I could cross connect some of the inputs and outputs between the two alarms and create responses in each alarm in response to what the other one is doing.

The filtering application seems like a good solution
Connecting outputs of one comfort to the other one is OK but you should use a relay RLY02 (8 relays) connected to the outputs

thanks ident - the relays were going to be my next question
I am planning to use the relays at each end to completely isolate the cable from both panels.
I have one 8 core CAT5e cable of approx 40M going between the house and the second panel - from a quick read of the Relay instructions it appears that I need two cores per connection and can't make use of a single wire for multiple commons?

It is best to use separate cores for isolation although you can get away with using a single wire for multiple commons if you are really short of cables

If you really worry about isolation, there was a very interesting post a year or so back. This solution used a UCM/GSM to send a SMS message to the second Comfort which would act on it via responses. Perhaps you could look it up and get some ideas. I thought it was a very novel way to link two units together.
