The kids have a little electric ride on car and park it in the garage when done, they leave the doors slightly ajar and its always once i'm ready for bed and try to set night mode that i then deduce the garage door isn't bolted... the solution i'm after is a simple text at, say 20:00 every day IF a certain zone is open (the garage doors).

Is this possible with comfort? it seems oh so simple but i can't seem to manage it.

You can use the Time Program feature; set it to be triggered everyday at 20:00 and put a time program response to check the garage door and trigger an alarm if the garage door is currently open.
That alarm in turns shall be programmed to send a text to you.

See the attached configuration file.
I use Time Program number 5.
And I've modified the alarm number 14 to become 'GarageDoorOpen' alarm; you can see this under Security Type Settings >> Alarm Types.
This alarm is programmed to text to phone number 3 (assuming the phone no. 3 is the SMS number).

So if the garage door is still open at 20:00 it will send a text like this:

        0000 - Garage Door Open - 00

I've done something slightly different. I have a CBus installation and I have a spare switch on my Neo keypad in my kitchen.

What I've done is in Cbus created a 1 second On|Off pulse and assigned it to the switch's LED. Whenever the garage door/zone is open then this LED flashes so it immediately attracts my attention. This way if the garage door is open I will see a flashing LED on my CBus Neo keypad.

Hi, did this, it worked and is great, the downside is for each "check" i want to make i have to define an alarm type to get the zonename in the text.

Is there any "variable" that cen be used so the zonename is pushed through from the response?

You can actually use the same alarm type with different zones
The zone name is automaticallly transmitted in the text message

hmm, not so for me so i must be doing something wrong, instead, if i renamed the alarm zone to "SMSCheck" i then got a text saying My house - SMSCHeck Notify - 00

Have you  mixed up alarm types and zones?

The SMS message has the format

Alaphanumeric ID - Alarm Type - Zone Name

My house - SMSCHeck Notify - 00
SMSCheckNotify would be the alarm type, not the zone name

The zone name should be the last field

What firmware are you on
I suggest you upgrade to the latest UCM/GSM at http://www.cytech.biz/firmware.html for GSM and Comfort Ultra

OK, Check the names of alarms and zones acording to what I described

The zone type of the zone should be assigned to the new common alarm type

If you have different zones assigned to this zone type then each zone will trigger the alarm which will send text with its zone name

yes, sorry i meant "alarm type". I will pm you the sites cclx, for now it has 2 alarm types numbers 14 and 26 for the checks.

Reponse is #28, time program is #4 (DoorSMSCheck) and #5 a reminder for me (DoorSMSCheck2)

You are right. I forgot my own sample program and instructions
You are checking a zone by time program and activating an alarm if the zone is open, so this means of alarm activation does not have a meaningful zone name. hence you need to use the alarm name as a description in the SMS., hence you need a different alarm type for a different zone
So what you have been doing is correct. I dont see any shorter way

OK, but i'm going to run out of available alarm types, perhaps i might have a generic one that just says "open zone" to prompt someone to go and do a security check to find it.  Its just less "friendly" but given this is my personal alarm at home i can live with this one.
