Version 6.007 (1 Aug 2011)

  1. Supports Firmware upgrade via Comfort Bus with Comfigurator 3.3.x
  2. Fixed BUG DT query does not get reply.
  3. Send RSxx were xx is id to PC when reset
  4. Improvements in handling errors in the command sequence in UCM upgrade by direct connection to PC. Error message UBF2 is sent when an unknown command is received by UCM during upgrade process, this means the upgrade must be done again
  5. UCM firmware upgrade implemented time-out for program and erase and verify check for each location, gives error  UBF6-AAAAAA-DD
This firmware mainly improves on error handling during the UCM firmware self upgrade by direct connection to Comfigurator

Please download the firmware from http://www.cytech.biz/ucm_firmware.html

Note that if a firmware upgrade error occurs for any reason eg

  1. Comfigurator crash
  2. Loss of communications
  3. error message during upgrade
  4. any other reason
Please DO NOT reset the UCM if there is any error as this may cause the firmware to be corrupted, requiring the UCM firmware to be upgraded using the UCM Programming cable

Always repeat the Firmware Upgrade via direct connection to Comfigurator again until it succeeds.

Do not try to upgrade the firmware via Ethernet for the time being due to potential problems caused by delays in the network

Hi

Can you expand on:

"...

Do not try to upgrade the firmware via Ethernet for the time being due to potential problems caused by delays in the network

..."

Sounds worrying as this is surely one of the most useful aspects of upgrading?

I've upgraded the UCM 6.xxx many times recently via this method and not had problems.

Surely network delays are not going away and the upgrade process should deal with them, right?

Please advise.

Julian

This is an issue with Comfigurator which will be fixed

During the upgrade process Comfigurator sends commands and expects a reply. In the sequence of firmware upgrading, the UCM may take a few seconds to reply and  when upgrading through the Ethernet (or Internet) Comdfigurator may time out due to longer delays on the network. Thus the UCM will not be completely  upgraded. The UCM can recover from this by doing another upgrade, as long as the UCM is not reset or the power removed.
We have only encountered this with Ethernet so until a later version of Comfigurator 3.3.1 is available we advise not to try this using the UCM/Ethernet.
