I have an G2 Ultra system where the firmware (5.113) has not been updated since the plug-in flash module was installed.
Please advise if I need to remove the plug-in module to update firmware to current 5.217 version, or can I update the firmware with it remaining on the board.

You can upgrade the firmware without removing the MPU
However disconnect the Bellbox as it may sound while upgrading

The first attempt had a failed connection with Comfort. I rebooted & tried again & had a successful download when I checked the system information in Configurator.
I now wish to update my two UCM's. The PP2 shunt for the Ethernet is immediately below the add-on Tibbo board. Do I need to remove this to insert the shunt, or is there an easier way as the board will be difficult to remove?
My KNX UCM is EIB 5.40 & does not appear to be upgradeable. Is this correct?

Yes, you will have to remove the plug in board and shunt the PP2s, but it will be the last time you have to do this
The new UCM firmware 6.002 will allow the UCM firmware to be upgraded without another UCM and the PP2 will not need to be shunted, see http://www.comfortforums.com/view_topic.php?id=2283&forum_id=4
First you need to upgrade the UCMs to 6.002
The UCM/EIB with firmware 5.40 is not the flash based type and so cannot be upgraded unfortunately. It should be more than 5 years old
