Hi,

I have only UCM CBUS and UCM/Ethernet in my system (firmware verion 5).  How do I go about upgrading the firmware of the UCM/Ethernet?

Thanks

You will need another UCM to upgrade a UCM firmware. A UCM cannot upgrade its own firmware. Perhaps you know someone who has a UCM so you can upgrade each others UCM firmware

Sure. Send me an email with your address.

Not really an ideal solution though, the way I see it you are unlikely to have two such UCMs in an install. Makes remote update impossible also.

Is anyone working on a way that you can simply flash directly to the UCM, much the same way as you can for a PC Bios?

In fact we are working on a new UCM firmware which will allow a UCM to be directly upgraded. If the upgrade is not urgent I suggest to wait for the new firmware for a few months

Hi,

This new self upgrading UCM; how's it coming along?

Will the UCM have to be already flashed to a certain revision (using another UCM) before the UCM will then be able to onwardly self-flash?

If so I hope you'll be able to publish a "Placebo firmware" at the same time so that we can test it post initial (old method) upgrade.

It is still in progress. It will need a new version of Comfigurator to support it.
Yes, you will have to upgrade the UCM to the new firmware using another UCM before it can become self-upgrading. The upgraded UCM will still be able to use the "old" method of using the programming cable to upgrade other UCMs and modules
I dont know what you mean by the "placebo" firmware and why you would need that

Maybe "placebo" is the wrong term.

Lets say that the UCM version that first supports this is 5.300.   We use another UCM to upgrade our UCM (using the new Comfigurator) to version 5.300.

Now we want to test if it all works.  Using just the new method if you could provide us with a 5.301 firmware we can they test the new upgrade process works without having to wait months for the next firmware version.  So 5.301 is "placebo" in that it has no new fixes/features other than a hike in the version numbering to fool the UCM that it can be upgraded.

Maybe I'm totally "off mark" but that was my thinking. :)

Regards

Julian

You should be able to test by upgrading with the 5.300 firmware again. The upgrading process does not require that you must always UPgrade to a higher version.
In fact you could even downgrade to a previous version which does not support self-upgrading feature

Update
UCM, Comfort and other modules firmware with version 6 and above can now be upgraded using Comfigurator, see http://www.comfortforums.com/forum92/3400.html
