In the documentation for the GSM module on page 8 there's a step 7 that states:

7 - The LED D4 (red) on the daughterboard should be steady to indicate that there is power supplied to the daughterboard. BUSY1 LED should go off. If there is no network, BUSY1 will turn off and ERROR will turn on. The UCM/GSM will periodically try to communicate with the network every 10 seconds.

My question is that in my GSM module the LED D4 doesn't blink, doesn't get steady, it doesn't show any light at all.

I'm wondering if this a problem since the module seems to be working fine. All features are available, only the LED stays dead.

Hi,

We have several versions of UCM/GSM module.
Is your module UCM/GSM2 as shown in:
http://www.comfortforums.com/forum48/1214.html

If yours is the one mentioned above then by default the red D4 LED should turn on to indicate that there is power supplied to the GSM daughterboard from the UCM baseboard.
Since you said the module is working fine then there is no problem as far as functionality concerned.
The only issue is that it gives wrong power indication.
This could probably be caused by a faulty D4 LED.

Did you notice if this LED is turned on when it was first installed?
Any other issues with this UCM/GSM module before?

My GSM module is the one on the picture you sent (UCM/GSM2).

The led never worked. I installed the module this weekend and never saw the led on.

Maybe its just a faulty led. I'm just not sure if I should return the module or not :(
